Hello Has any one installed Cricket on Cenos ? it seems there is a patch that should apply on Format.pm to specify Achitecture, but I can not find it . Thanks

Problems printing multi-page emails to SMB printer HP1120C

I have a SMB printer on my network (HP1120C connected to a Windows XP machine). CUPS test page printed OK (CUPS v1.1.x) so printer appears to be installed and set up correctly for printing from my CentOS 5 machine. Problem is when I try to print multi-page emails, I get an unspecified error after printing the first page and it won't print any more pages - in fact it just keeps printing the first page and also rubbish! The print log on my CentOS machine says the printing is completed but on the Windows machine it says there is an error. I never had this problem when I was using RedHat9 - any suggestions would be much appreciated. Andy

I removed the mrepo settings and put the updates repo back to the normal mirrorlist. I did a "yum clean all" and a "yum update", but got the same results. SHOULD I NEED TO RECOMPILE THE KERNEL ?

Hi, I am still runnig Redhat 9 box with sendmail and squid. It is quite slow. It has only 128 MB RAM. So I upgraded it to 512 MB RAM. Now, It is running with 512 MB RAM. But, It is still slow. No progress has been achived. Some users say it is slower than before. Actually, I also have noticed it is NOW SLOWER than before. WHY IS THAT? SHOULD I NEED TO RECOMPILE THE KERNEL as I installed a new 512 MB RAM ? help needed? -- Thank you Indunil Jayasooriya

NFS filesystem recommendations please (and problems with XFS)

Hello all, I am implementing a new mail server into our environment consisting of three machines - two Dell Opterons that will act as load balanced Postfix servers, and a 1.5TB RAID10 NFS server. All three machines are running CentOS 4.5. Since the NFS is going to be used for only mail, I was kicking around the idea to use XFS. I have CentOS installed on an ext3 partition, and with the leftover space on the NFS I created an XFS partition. I tried to implement XFS into the kernel, and was coming across some issues. Even after installing xfprogs and xfsprogs-devel, and issuing the command: yum --enable-plusrepos install kernel I booted up the kernel and still could not mount my XFS share. I keep getting this error: mount: fs type xfs not supported by kernel After googling around (and not finding out how to get XFS enabled in the kernel), people had some concerns about using XFS due to issues and it being about as fast as ext3. Also people said that I might run into issues with XFS if I run NFS+lvm+xfs+md but I'm not sure if I run lvm and md and if that applies to me. I found this benchmarking blog someone wrote that compares the speeds in Ubuntu with all the filesystems in a Postfix server environment (although it's not NFS): http://piao-tech.blogspot.com/2007/04/file-system-benchmarks-for-postfix-ma… With all this said, I'd like to use XFS, if it indeed is going to be the fastest for the solution I want to implement. If you guys can help me get that installed by telling me what I need - great! If you think XFS isn't going to work as efficiently and fast as I want it to, and there is another filesystem (such as ext3) that will be more stable and just as fast in my setup, I'm all ears. Yum missing dependency

I haven't run any updates on my systems recently, but now I'm trying to get them up to date again. When I run a yum update, I get this error: Error: Missing Dependency: initscripts >= 7.93.26.EL-1 is needed by package httpd I did a Google search, but I didn't find anything relating directly to CentOS or RHEL and there was no fix suggested. If it makes a difference, I am running the update against a newly created mrepo repository. Any suggestions? -- Bowie
