scripts with the dialog command

Is there a way to send stdin information to a script that is using the dialog command? I tried echo -e "\n\n\n" | scriptname and this had no effect. I tried scriptname << EOF EOF and that had no effect. I am looking for a method that calling dialog within a script will obey stdin. Anyone have an idea. Jerry

GRE Tunnels

Hey all, Anybody been successful running DHCPD on a GRE tunnel? possible corrupt rpm database

Hello, I've got a centos5 box that at least has a dependency issue or a corrupt rpm database. I am open to suggestions as to how to proceed. I have added some extra repositories to my yum configuration, centosplus, rpmforge, atrpms, and the kbs repos. I haven't been having issues with installs or upgrades until today when i ran a yum update, and got a missing dependency error for zaptel, a perl dependency. I've tried doing a yum install for the package, but no success. The error is below and i am open to suggestions. Thanks. Can we get a newer version of madwifi on rpmforge?

RPMforge still has: rpmForge: madwifi-0.9.2.1-2.el5.rf.i386.rpm ATrpms has: madwifi-0.9.4-38_r2512.fc6.i386.rpm but requires their patched kernel. I am at IETF this week, and was at IEEE 802 last week. There are over 60 visible access points in most locations (actually not that may APs, but an SSID for b/g, another for a, another for 802.1x TKIP, another for 802.1x CCMP, argh!) and I think there are some serious table handling problems. It would be nice to be current with code...

I have seen this behavior with the tg3 module and a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5701 Gigabit Ethernet NIC. This is a 64 bit PCI card in a Tyan Tiger MPX (dual Athlon) motherboard. I Googled for any similar problems and couldn't find anything so I put a spare 3c2000t into a 32-bit slot and chalked the problem up to the old motherboard and chip set. The box in question is *NOT* serving as a router but does have multiple NICs. The NIC in question has a CAT 6 cable to a 3com 16 port unmanaged gigabit switch. I swapped cables, etc. and still saw the same behavior. I could restart the network and everything would be fine for a while but then it would just stop with no errors, messages, etc. Since I had the spare 3c2000t, that problem went down in the priority stack. wrapper for "ok" button

hi all, is there a way inside a shell script to send key presses to a program that does not support silent command line arguments??? Example: alsaconf pops up with a screen with info and has OK, so the user must hit OK, then a screen appears to select the driver, the default is good so again another "OK", then another prompt about modifying /etc/modprobe.conf and again I want to accept the default of "YES". Is there a wrapper that can be put around alsaconf for redirect stdin with something so basically three returns are given to alsaconf???? Thanks, jerry

Hi, what are the differences between postfix-2.2.10-1.1.el4.centos.mysql_pgsql.base.i386.rpm vs postfix-2.2.10-1.1.el4.centos.mysql_pgsql.plus.i386.rpm. Changelogs are the very same and there's no announcement. Thanks, David Hrbáč

CentOS 5: rsyncd log problem

I run a CentOS/Fedora mirror with rsync access. I have the following rsyncd.conf file: read only = true transfer logging = true pid file = /var/run/rsyncd.pid log file = /var/log/rsyncd.log dont compress = * [Fedora] path = /var/ftp/pub/mirrors/fedora comment = Fedora mirror [CentOS] path = /var/ftp/pub/mirrors/centos comment = CentOS mirror My problem is that nothing gets logged into /var/log/rsyncd.log, all logging occurs into /var/log/messages instead. There's no error message that /var/log/rsyncd.log (the file doesn't exist) can't be opened. What have I done wrong? Asuscom 56000 serial modem

Hi guys, I am trying to connect through an asuscom (56000) serial modem in CentOS5, but when tried Kppp tool it sais no device found. I can't see /dev/modem :( What could you suggest in this cases ? Thanks you in advance.
