OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. I tried to use Noatun to play back mp3s, but it does not work. Is it normal?

centos 5 - where are genkey and crypto-utils?

The RHEL 5 documentation talks about a utility called genkey, apparently part of a package called crypto-utils: https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-5-manual/Deployment_Gui… However, I can't find that package or that utility on CentOS 5 - did a few digging with yum but nothing showed up. Anybody knows: 1. What happened to those things on CentOS 5? 2. What is the "official" CentOS 5 replacement for genkey, in case it's missing from the distribution? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/

Apache User Isolation/Perchild, or PHP "chroot"?

Has anyone set up any form of apache user isolation on CentOS? I have multiple virtual hosts on my machine, run by users who do not trust eachother. The problem is that any php script run by apache is able to do things like raw file io on other users' .htpasswds, php scripts, hidden directory listings, and so on. Database passwords can even be divulged in this way, since they are often stored in .php scripts, which can be read "in the raw" as files by other php scripts. What is the easiest method for dealing with this? I found http://webauth.stanford.edu/manual/mod/perchild.html but it does not seem to be compiled with the CentOS 5 apache, and I've read elsewhere that php has issues with mutlithreaded apache. Is there any easy way to isolate individual users, by either having apache setuid, or chrooting php scripts, or (ugh) a clean way to run a new apache copy for each vhost? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? On a Compaq DL360 G1 w/ dual PIII 1.27's I installed Centos 5 minimal and then a yum update When I do a "uname -a" I get this Linux tstsrvr.abbacomm.net 2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 #1 SMP Mon Apr 30 19:55:44 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux When I do a rpm -qa | grep kern* I get this kernel-devel-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 kernel-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 kernel-headers-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 It is interesting that I did have this issue with my first Compaq DL380 load with slightly faster dual PIII's Centos 4 always found both processors automatically... hmmmmm, now... what part of my brains have done fell out my ears that I am not seeing the obvious solution on this one??? software raid during centos5 install

Hello, I've got the first disk of centos5. I plan to do a minimal install, correct me but that's where you uncheck everything, what about base do you uncheck that as well? I am curious as to the 5.0 server CD? Anyway i want to implement software raid during the install. I've got two identical drives hda and hdb when i get to the disk partition screen, this is in text mode, do i select raid, then what? I'd also like to give my volume groups more memorable names than volgroup00 and the like. Thanks. Dave.

'exclude' option failed for yum on centos 5

Hi, 'exclude' option fails for yum on centos 5. I tried to yum install a group on a x86_64 machine, but it installs both ix86 version and x86_64 version. So I added the following line to /etc/yum.conf, clears /var/cache/yum/, then run 'yum groupinstall Ruby', but it reports that ix86 version packages will be installed still. Any one know what's the correct syntax to exclude one or more 'arch' from group installation on centos 5? Please help.
