Blocking radio streaming

Hi, I'm the system's administrator at my company. All servers are CentOS :) I've been noticing that many people spend the whole day hearing to online radios. How can i block the streaming ? It's HTTP and i think it's through port 80. Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito PS: No good blocking the radio sites, they'll discover others.

Hi All, I have some old HP Netserver LPr¹s that have old HP RAID controllers (NetRAID 3si¹s). The RAID controllers don¹t work too well with CentOS. I¹ve not been able to get the installer to see the controllers. I¹ve read a lot of notes that don¹t seem to point to me having any success. So 2 questions. Has anyone successfully used NetRAID 3si controllers with CentOS? Can anyone recommend an alternative controller that would play nicer with the OS? I¹m shooting for RAID1 only. Thanks Brian

We are in need of a remote mirror that provides rsync capabilities for vaulted centos releases. Specifically centos 4.3 but we'll need 4.4 when it is vaulted too. Any helpful links to information on this or a reputable mirror would be fantastic. Thanks.

5.0: installing everything

I realize that the @everything packages option is now gone in CentOS 5.0 (ix86 and x86_64), but my experiments to date don't show how to practically simulate the same effect (and I have a good reason for doing so). I want all packages, all languages. If one installs from CD, and selects all packages and options, the resulting anaconda-ks.cfg file does not have a complete package list. For example: - performing a kickstart install using the package list from the full-install-from-CD anaconda-ks.cfg results in a system with only about a third of the available packages, missing some notables such as openssl. - A kickstart install with a wild-card glob in the packages list does not work either; one gets a minimal install. Wild cards evidently not supported. - A kickstart install with a full listing of every rpm (not packages) in the %packages section does work, but it takes _two days_ of 100% CPU to resolve dependencies. So, how do I determine the proper full package list to use in the %packages section for a kickstart install? Do I have to go grubbing around in comps.xml to find the proper package list? TIA, Steve

Centos kernel does not boot, redhat does (i2o raid controller problem)

Hi, following system: Dell PE2650, 2 2.4ghz Xeon, 1gb ram, Dell Perc4DC Controller It has EL5 installed, but I wanted to change to Centos because of the missing workstation packages in the entry server repository. The system was redhat up2date until yesterday, so the latest kernel was missing. I changed redhat-release to centos-release packages and the new centos kernel was installed the via yum. This kernel does not boot. Error messages: i20:iop0: Get status timeout i20:iop0: Reset timeout i20:iop0: could not reset controller i20:iop0: Reset timeout kernel panic Here are my findings when setting emulation in scsi adapter bios to i2o: - initial redhat el5 install fails, no adapter found (mayby centos install is affected, too, have to set to 'mass storage' to install) - redhat's kernel-2.6.18-8.1.1.el5 and kernel-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 boot with i20 enabled - centos latest 2.6.18-8.1.3.el5 does not! error messages above - setting to 'mass storage' all is fine Is this really a centos kernel problem (I read in centos kernel changelog about special centos changes), or is this for any reason because this is actually a redhat system? Centos 5 text install doesnt install all of GNOME

I did find this out in another message here and they are right. This is a missing piece (one of many!) in the text install. Even if you select Gnome as your workstation WIndows environment, not all of Gnome gets in. You still have to do: yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment" Then edit /etc/inittab file to reflect as shown below id:5:initdefault: ^ This number should be 5.

Pls help on Shorewall installation

Hi all, This might be more suitable for the shorewall list, but no one has replied yet for several days. I'm trying bandwidth management feature of shorewall-3.4.1-3 on Centos 4.4 with no updates.
