Help making gnokii (cvs version) rpm for CentOS 5

Hi, I'm trying to package gnokii (using FC6 SRPM as base). I can build it without problems, my problem is that I want to upgrade it from CVS version. I download the cvs version (from cvs, because "current" tar.gz appears to be broken) but ... ¿How can I convert this CVS version to a "peseudo release" to make a diff from 0.6.14 and add the patch into the SOURCES? Thanks

Upgrading from 4.4 to 5

Hi, I have one centOS 4.4 with apache and some services. I want to upgrade to version 5 running: Yum -y -c /etc/yum.repos.d/base_centos upgrade Where the file bases_centos has: [base] name=CentOS-5 - Base baseurl=ftp://repository.mydomain/centos/5/os/i386 gpgcheck=0 timeout=1800 And, repository.mydomain is a mirror of mirror.centos.org It began to download all headers until I get this error: Error: Missing Dependency: libnewt.so.0.51 is needed by package crypto-utils Error: Missing Dependency: libnewt.so.0.51 is needed by package newt-perl Error: Unable to satisfy dependencies Error: Package initscripts needs kernel < 2.6.12, this is not available. Error: Package autofs needs kernel < 2.6.17, this is not available. Error: Package kudzu needs kernel < 2.6.13, this is not available. Error: Package hal needs kernel < 2.6.17, this is not available. Error: Package newt-perl needs libnewt.so.0.51, this is not available. Error: Package lksctp-tools needs kernel < 2.6.10, this is not available. Annoying Mouse Tricks

Hi All, Something that just has been annoying the daylights out of me for the past 9 months with no resolution in site. I've got a Hawking HKS 104 4 port KVM connecting my Linux workstation, 2 servers, and my wife's windows workstation to one monitor, mouse, and keyboard. No matter how I toggle back and forth whether by keyboard or directly on the device once I come back to the linux desktop scroll wheel on mouse no longer functions. Except for a brief time while running CentOS 4.4 it's always been this way. I've googled until there were just no more places left on the internet and searched through CentOS archives until I'd read everything from balls to bones without finding any helpful information. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on how a fella might resolve this? When I restart the machine (Linux) the scroll mouse works normally, that is until I toggle to the windows machine and back again or to one of the servers and back again. Then the mouse functions like a two button mouse not having a scroll wheel. Hi, Is there anyone here using Openfire Jabber server with CentOS 4.4 LDAP ? If so, how do I map the vCard fields with the LDAP info ? I'm completely lost here :( Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito

samba centos and cups client errors

Hello, I have a CentOS 4.4 box acting as a print server with a cups backend and samba 3.2.4. I recently ran yum which updated both cups and cups-libs, but i do not think this is my problem. I've added windows drivers to the samba sharea and have in the past printed a test page to the printer. Now when i atempt to do this with a word document from a windows box, i am getting the error: client not authorized. It is showing me connecting to the print$ share as my user which have SePrintOperatorPrivilege, then i get the error from cups about the client not being authorized. Any help appreciated. Thanks. cpuspeed on centos 5

It appears as cpuspeed is not running on my centos 5 box(s). One is a biostar motherboard Am2 6400+ the other is Asus am2 4800+. If I do "service cpuspeed stop" it says OK, If I do a "service cpuspeed start" is says OK. However at no time is cpuspeed running. /proc/cpuinfo only shows the cpu running at 1000 Mhz. If I manually run "cpuspeed -C & " I now have cpuspeed running as a process and /proc/cpuspeed shows 2200 mhz. service cpuspeed stop then stops this process as it should. service cpuspeed start does not start cpuspeed again... Any ideas? Jerry

Centos for entry level server : Motherboard?

I've been burned by Sata not working on an Asus motherboard (nVidia / nForce) and need to select something that will work for a fairly light duty web/mail/sql server. How do I go about finding out if a specific motherboard will work with sata software raid and Centos 4.4 (or 5.x when it's settled down). VMware Server 1.2

Hi i am very new to CentOS. I obtain CentOS 5 on dvd, and have made successful install. When installing vmware server 1.0.2 i found there is problem with different kernel version name: $uname -r Return 2.6.18-8.el5xen, but on system i have. /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-8.1.1.el5-i686 I search the net, and find this is a problem in CentOS 5, but did not find any solution for this. Can you show me the way for this.
