Sendmail Generics Configuration LDAP

I am trying to configure Sendmail to do Generics lookups using LDAP. I added FEATURE(`genericstable', `LDAP') to my sendmail.mc file, and was planning on using an existing LDAP directory that should contain the information needed (currently doing aliasing). I do not know where to specify the non-standard attributes that we are using, and would prefer to not change my sendmail.cfdirectly (makes it very impractical when changing things later). I had this working using a file, but am unsuccessful when doing this through LDAP. Does anyone have a working generics through LDAP configuration? I see the information that was added to my sendmail.cf when using the above directive in my sendmail.mc (Kgenerics -v .... -k .... ), any help would be great. I have searched google, and my O'Reilly book without success. -- Thx Joshua Gimer

laptop install centos 5

Hi all, I was just installing centos 5 on my new dv9000 hp laptop. Installed fine. on first boot, I got through welcome, firewall, selinux was on date time screen and did Forward to goto next screen (Create User) and the machines locks up. can ping any more or anything.... Any ideas? Jerry

Strange Question regarding CentOS 5 install

Ok so the install has been seamless on a few machines and I decided to try it on my laptop (a Dell D620). I had everything working great and kicked it around a bit and then figured, if I'm going to keep this on my laptop I'll need to reformat everything, enable some encrypted filesystems etc ... not a big deal ... kind of Here's the problem, the laptop has a resolution of 1440x900 and X wont start up on it therefore, I do not get the graphical installer ... not a big deal if you don't want to customize your volume groups and logical volumes, but I would like to. So far I've tested graphical installers from Mandriva and Knoppix and they will actually load a graphical installer but CentOS 5 does not. Does anyone know if there is a way for me to get the GUI installer so I can monkey with VG's? currently these options aren't available in the curses menu set up. And yes I know I could just as easily create regular etx3 filesystems with no LVM2 stuff (no I'm not going to be adding more drives any time soon to my laptop) but it would be nice to know it's possible. I was using LVM2 on my last laptop and it was handy having the ability to grow and shrink some filesystems. I know it's probably not on the agenda from the upstream provider either but automating the encryption of newley created filesystems at the point of install would be sweet too :D -- Lonny -- "To mess up a Linux box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work ON it."

Moving/copying the MBR

Are there any tools for working with and moving or copying the MBR? My machine has 2 PATA drives (hda & hdb) and 2 SATA drives (sda & sdb). The MBR is on hda, but I would like (eventually or sooner) to boot from sda because it is two years newer, faster and, hopefully, more reliable. Even if I don't change that, I'd like a backup MBR on sda in case hda fails (hdb has gone sour a few times due to something in the power setup, although no data lost and it always comes back). In order to copy the MBR, I'd also need to edit it because the drive configuration would be different, as well as the location of my /boot partition. Any suggestions? Thanks. MD5 checker for Win2000 for ISOs

For a change, I am going to try and check the checksum before burning the CDs.... My burner is on a Win2000 box, and I have all 6 of the Centos 5 ISO images there already. So I grab a checker from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/freeutilities/md5.php And checking the ISO image files with this program, I get different numbers than in the MD5 hash txt file. Can anyone point me to a 'proper' checker?
