Centos 4.4 in a cf card + ramdisk

I want to install centos 4.4 in a CF card and use a ram disk for operations. It means no hard disk attached to the computer. The machine will only run an antispam antivirus gateway. How to configure CD-RW in CentOS for cd burning using cdrecord

Dear all, I am using CentOS 4.4 Version Now.I want to Burn multi session CD using commands "mkisofs" and "cdrecord" on command prompt. I don't know how to configure the cdwriter(Samsung)? I am able to find the device using "cdrecord -scanbus" but when I want to get next track of already written cd using "cdrecord -dev=X.X.X -msinfo", system displays error and I am unable to get the next track. Previously, I was using Red Hat Linux 7.2, for that I have configured lilo.conf and fstab file as adding "append hdX=ide-scsi" and "iso9660 X,X,X,X 0 0" respectively. I have a scsi card which is already loaded and I can see the entry in "lsmod". Same 7.2 configuration is not working and even I also don't want to continue with that as CentOS supports cd-RW/DVD as default. Can any body help me to figure out the problem and advise me to take necessary steps do fulfill the requirement. I don't want to use K3B or other as I have some data and I want to make this cd burning process automatically in incremental manner into CD. Looking for a fast reply. wireless question

I've had no luck with getting a wireless card to work. Before I go buy another card, I wanted to see if there is a way I could do this instead. I've got a second wireless router that I'm not using right now. So I would like to find out if there is a way I can make this work. I was thinking about connecting the second wireless router to my pc through the ethernet port, and let the router be my wireless connection instead of a wireless card. Now, is there a way I can get the second router to talk wirelessly to the router that's connected to my broadband modem, and surf the web and everything else that way? Any help would be appreciated. Ultra simple mail server config?

Hello, I am hoping you folks on the list could advise me on this... Can anyone point me towards a HOW-TO that describes how to transform a normal CentOS install into a very basic POP3/IMAP/SMTP email server? Our current ISP where we host ~15 domains and ~25+ email accounts has a mandatory incoming "auto-discard" spam filter that is far too strict to continue using. Unfortunately, switching ISPs is not an option right now. I am looking at signing up for a basic low-memory CentOS "Virtual Dedicated Server" to handle our own incoming (& outgoing) mail. There will not be a full-time IT person to maintain the server, so simplicity is a must. I am perfectly fine with leaving out complex server-side spam filtering, though I suspect that some basic blacklist usage would be a good idea. Most specifically, I don't want to add the security liability and maintenance requirements of a typical "default" server. (Apache, PHP, MySQL, Bind, etc.) Basically, I want an ultra-basic server that I can set for automatic updates and let it continue running "hands-off" until CentOS 4 is no longer supported with security patches. Does such a HOW-TO exist? If not, and there are experts here willing to help out, I would be happy to write up my experience. Raw print queues in CentOS 4.4

Hi All, I have a raw print queue configured in CentOS 4.4 for a printer connected to a Windows PC. The printer doesn't have a Linux driver of any sort, so this was the only way to print to it. The printer is an Okidata dot matrix printer. Users can print to it from a console application, but if they try printing to it from OOo Writer, the printer spits out reams of pages with what looks like postscript code. The very first page has a line that says "%! PS-Adobe-3.0". Even though the print queue is configured as "raw", why are OOo Writer print jobs still sent as postscript documents? I'm don't know too much about printing, postscript, etc., so I don't know if this is normal or if something broke. Well, I have written that onboard network controller doesn't work... It's not true anymore. Apologies for not finding it in my searching yet... I think it is my "sometimers" kickin' in... ;-> I am looking for info on the granularity knob control for number of extra spamd daemons on startup. ...AND if one has enough processors and ram memory, how to know how many "extra" to have available to speed up scanning and such under load.
