Hola...necesito una manito: Tengo un Servidor dell power edge 2800... primero..se puede instalar centos y cual version? x86_64? bueno de instalarlo, lo instala, pero necesito habilitar el RAiD de los discos en raid 10. como me reconoce los 4 discos en raid 10 ...?? Agradecido...roberto.-

only one mysql process in pstree

Hi All, I have two servers, one is centos 4.3 (new) and other is rh9 (old). Both of them run mysql as the primary database server. I installed mysql via the rpms available in mysql.com downloads. Recently when i do "pstree", i noticed that RH9 server shows many mysql children while centos shows only one. Here is the pstree result. (Both of them runs the same version of mysql) server A (RH9 , MySQL-server-4.1.19-0.glibc23 ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ├─mysqld_safe───mysqld───mysqld───13*[mysqld] and server B (CentOS 4.3 , MySQL-server-4.1.19-0.glibc23 ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ├─mysqld_safe───mysqld my question is, why mysql is showing one process in centos?. I use same my.cnf in both servers. So i believe it is not a config issue. I believe someone can explain it to me. Regards, Renjith Rajan

Yes, I can get it done with some effort. I understand the non-free aspect of jpackage.org the rpm is created with user/group jpp, so I guess that I have to include: --prefix /home/me/rpm ?

non-bootable dvd image

Hi all; I downloaded the centos 4.3 image onto my linux box and used k3b to burn a DVD iso image. It seemed to work fine. I have an SuSE laptop and I want to setup a CentOS VM via Vmware 5.5 If I insert the dvd and boot the new vm I get 'no operating system found' It seems to be a non-bootable dvd. Is there something additional I need to do when burning the dvd image to make it bootable?

I did burn the image. VMPlayer can only use virtual machines that are already created, either with the full version of VMware WS, or Server. I use VMware server for all my uses now, I've been a VMware WS user since 4.0 days. So far, server has been fine and I can't argue about the cost! HTH Mark

Testing kernel and xfs/netatalk

I recently took over a x86_64 CentOS 4.0 server running an "unsupported" kernel. On examining the box it seems that perhaps it is because of the use of xfs and netatalk. I would like to update the box to 4.3. I think I can do away with the netatalk, but doing away with xfs would require a substantial amount of work. Questions: 1: In reading the archive of this list there was a post regarding the kernel in the Testing repo supporting xfs. Is this the case and if so, would it be a "bad idea" to run that kernel without essentially runnning a test box using all packages from the testing repo? 2: Does the same kernel include netatalk support? It would be easier to leave the netatalk in place if that were so. 3: Should I just bite the bullet and get rid of the xfs? I'm not sure what predicated the choice of filesystem in the first place. Any thoughts/comments would be welcome, Alex Palenschat

Hi looking for mib browser once i used mbrowse in my Fedora 5, but now i installed CENTOS 4.3 in my laptop instead of Fedora 5 (wich is still in my Desktop) i found this http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2005-December/057991.html is it true that CENTOS does not have mbrowse in none repo? thanks regards, Guillermo.

resolve problem

Hi, I had install a CentOS 4.3. In etc/resolve.conf, the nameserver i use is the static IP which i was issue by the datacentre. I cant resolve any domain. But if i use a public DNS IP, i am able to resolve. What is wrong with my IP? regards

Wireless USB mouse

Hi I am posting this message again because I am desperate. I have search the net, joined the x.org mailing list and have gotten no where. I never even got a response on the x.org mailing list. I am using a microsoft wireless laser mouse model 6000, and it moves fine but when you move over icons menus etc it will click on it own. I am at the point of switching to Ubuntu which works just fine. I have even changed my xorg.conf file to match Ubuntus for the mouse section and still no go. I have added the plus repositories and updated to the latest kernel and still no go. My xorg.conf file look like the following Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes" EndSection My system is a dual athlon 2.2Ghz (Tyan mpx) 1gig ram 200Gig HD Ati 9700Pro 128Meg USB 1.1 USB microsoft 6000 laser mouse (wireless) pluged into a 4port hub USB Saitek eclipse keyboard. pluged into a 4port hub Thanks for any help Mace
