CentOS 4.3 (Final) need IPVS

Hello All Currently on a CentOS 4.3 system with the 2.6.14.3 kernel. Is there a recommend way to properly recompile the kernel? I was thinking of dling the source from kernel.org, but I was told that using SRPMs would be better? Any suggestions ? Thank You

Possible to change mouse sensitivity?

Ever since I replaced the mouse that came with one of my computers with a Logitech MX1000, I have noticed that I have difficulty with accurately making small movements with the pointer in X because it moves so fast. I have played around with the mouse preferences, and using 'xset m', but neither one gives me what I want. When I do 'xset m 1/4 1' I get about what I consider to be a normal/usable speed for the mouse when I need to do precise pointing. Of course, that setting eliminates the possibility of getting the pointer across the screen with a flick of the wrist. Most of the articles I have found related to this problem have been about having entries in the XFree86 or xorg config file for two different mouse device names that are actually the same device, and I don't. I have also seen references to psmouse_resolution and psmouse_rate but when I give either of these as a parameter to the kernel, it says they are obsolete and ignores them. My understanding is this mouse is not well supported in xorg until 6.8.3, but I'm still wondering if there is some way to get the kernel to slow it down. Does anybody know of a way to do that, so I can get back the mouse acceleration on fast movements? Oh, by the way, I should probably mention this mouse is on a KVM. I don't know if that could be interfering with the detection algorithm. Thanks for your help. Linus

Help with some screen command

Hi, I want to connect to my server, run screen as root and then let another person log in a root also and let him run screen and attach to mine so he can "see" what im doing on the server. I haven't played with screen a lot but it seems a nice feature to teach him how to configure certain things. Mainpine OCTO+ and CentOS v4

I've been having a problem with getting a Mainpine OCTO+ working on CentOS Version 4. I know at some point I'll have to recompile the kernel in order to access all 8 ports but something is still not right. Wvdialconf almost every will id all of the ports. All too often it can fine the modem on at least half the ports on the board. I'm starting to hear that something is not right on V4 when using the mainpine. System config: Dell 2650 dual Xeon with 2GB ram. Has anyone setup a OCTO+ on V4 yet? providing drivers at boot time for SATA

I just got a motherboard with the nforce4 chipset. Apparantly the PCI'ids changed for the SATA and the drivers are not loaded or found at install time. What can I do to provide them? I am using CentOS 4.3. Will those new changes to 4.4 handle this? Thanks Jerry

Problems with installing perl-Gtk2 from kbsingh repros

I need perl-Gtk2 for TinyCA2. I find it on centos.karan.org After many misteps, I add bout kbsingh-Centos-Extras.repro and kbsingh-Centos-Misc.repro to /etc/yum.repro.d I do a yum install perl-Glib and it finally goes, adding perl-ExtUtils and warning me about user mockbuild does not exist. Then I try install perl-Gtk2 and it fails: yum install perl-Gtk2 Setting up Install Process Setting up repositories Reading repository metadata in from local files Parsing package install arguments Resolving Dependencies --> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait. ---> Package perl-Gtk2.i386 0:1.083-1.el4.kb set to be updated --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: perl-Glib >= 1.082 for package: perl-Gtk2 --> Processing Dependency: perl(Glib) for package: perl-Gtk2 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Missing Dependency: perl-Glib >= 1.082 is needed by package perl-Gtk2 Error: Missing Dependency: perl(Glib) is needed by package perl-Gtk2 It seems that Gtk2 needs a newer Glib. Where do I get it, or how do I fix this? And after I get this I get to build TinyCA. A test that I got that lesson down....

Kernel build on i386 and nohighmem forbidden?

I looked in the release notes, but maybe I missed it. Is it not possible to build a kernel from CentOS 4.3 (using 2.6.9-34.0.1) with HIGHMEM support turned off? This is for a machine with 512mb. When I try to build the kernel, I get _etext undefined symbol on line 100 of pageattr.c in arch/i386/mm. Linus

CO 4.3 + SATA + udev removing /dev/sda

Hi, I just installed CentOS 4.3 on a PATA drive and later installed 2 SATA2 (300mbit/s) disk drives. The patched sata_via driver detect the drives and I can use them, but only if I manually create the /dev/sda and /dev/sdb files using mknod. installing wireless card

hello, i am trying to install my wireless card ipw3945 (intel pro wireless abg). i have found the three files ipw3945d, ipw3945-firmware and the ipw3945-kmod from Dags site, but when i tried to install the ipw3945-kmod it says it needs kmod-ipw3945 0.0.73. where can i find it? will this work for my wireless card. i am running Centos 4.3 on a hp dv8000t and this is something i would like to see if it will work.
