Cannot compile metamail

Hello all, I've been trying to compile metamail on Centos4.2. Ethernet bandwith problem ...

Hello I experienced strange problem with bandwith. My CentOS 4.3 x86_64 server is a gateway to Internet. The uplink is 20 Mbps full duplex Eth card is part of NForce4 chipset, the module is "forcedeth" As a testing tool we use "iperf" http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/ By test we decide downloda is only 10 Mbps (upload is 18-20 Mbps) The first suspect was ISP, so we did test in cooperation. ISP Our site FreeBSD ========= FreeBSD (ISP test machine) TCP&UDP down 20 Mbps TCP&UDP up 20 Mbps TCP&UDP up 20 Mbps TCP&UDP down 20 Mbps result: link is Ok The second and final suspect was our gateway: ISP Our site FreeBSD ========= CentOS 4.3 UDP down 20 Mbps UDP up 20 Mbps UDP up 20 Mbps UDP down 20 Mbps BUT TCP down 20 Mbps TCP up 20 Mbps TCP up 10-12 Mbps TCP down 10-12 Mbps SO: there is an problem with TCP ??? raid setup

Hi, I have 2 identical xSeries 346 with 2 identical IBM 72GB scsi drive. What i did is install the centos 4.2 serverCD on the first IBM and set the HDD to raid1 and raid0 for swap. Now what i did is get the 2nd HDD in the 1st Server swap it with the 1st HDD in the 2nd Server and rebuild the Raids. The 1st server rebuild the array fine. My problem is the Second server, after rebuilding it and rebooted it, i need to rebuild the 2nd HDD again in the 2nd Server i don't know what went wrong. 64 bit

Hello, Presently I am considering using CentOS as my base OS. I am wondering about a few things though. I like KVirc as my irc program. I have had issue with compiling it in 64bit mode under Fedora 3 and was todl it was because Fedora installs both 32 and 64 bit libs and the compiler didn't understnad which to use. Will this be an issue with CentOS 4 also? If I install the 64 bit version how much trouble am I going to have when runnig 32 bit programs? -- Regards Robert Smile... it increases your face value!

It's not rhetorical - it might not break it, it might break it... The point is: it's not tested by RH, it's not tested by CentOS, it probably (okay 99.99% here) works in a vanilla kernel - but does it work after all of RH's patches have been applied? It probably does, _BUT_ do we guarantee it? NO. It just might break, and if it does _YOU_ get to keep the pieces and don't say we didn't warn you (and the breakage may very well be silent and result in a corrupted disk (etc.) three months from now). Sure, ext2 seems like something that shouldn't break, but one would think the same of many other options - some of which DO break, and perhaps even silently at that (or at least silently until your system crashes and you lose your data). vsftpd: transfer of files fails

I've got a problem with vsftpd on a new CentOS system. Most users can login and list and everything but when they want to transfer files the client says "transfer failed" or so. However, it works fine with two users. Of course, these two have been created by me and used only by me. So, I didn't detect the problem before other users tried to upload. I tried with the command line ftp client and get this: ftp> put medlingua_beta.sql local: medlingua_beta.sql remote: medlingua_beta.sql 229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||59620|) 150 Ok to send data. 0% | | 0 0.00 KB/s --:-- ETAftp: netout: Connection reset by peer 0% | | -1 0.00 KB/s --:-- ETA 451 Failure writing to local file. vsftpd logs "FAIL UPLOAD:" for this, nothing else. Of course, first thought is there might be some permission problem. However, I checked everything and the directory permissions are identical with the two accounts that work. Same goes for the user details they have. They only difference is that one of the two accounts is uid 50x while all the others are over 10000 - including the second one that works. All users have login shell /bin/false, are in /home and are chrooted to their homedir. The same users with the same directory setup, permissions and everything work fine on the old machine with vsftpd 1.1 (CentOS has 2.0). The vsftpd configuration is basically how it is when installed from base plus a few additional settings (like write-enable=yes etc.). SELINUX is in permissive mode and there are no advanced ACLs in effect. The baffling thing is that it works for these two (and maybe other users I haven't identified yet), but not for the majority, although all seem to be setup equivalent. One other thing I just notice is that I can delete root-owned files (standard 644 permissions) with any of the FTP users (the working and the non-working ones) which should not be possible at all. ipsec - vpn client - CentOS4.3

Anyone know of a client that will allow me to connect a laptop running 4.3 to a checkpoint firewall running an ipsec tunnel? Once i have this working i can say farewell to windows. thanks
