Building php-5.1.2-5 and php-pear-5.1.2-5 rpms

I want to build the php-5.1.2-5 and php-pear-5.1.2-5 from the fedora devel SRPM's on CentOS 4.3. Whilst the php-5.1.2-5 builds from the php-5.1.2-5 SRPM, the 1.4.6-2 php-pear builds a php-pear-1.4.6-2 instead of php-pear-5.1.2-5 What am i doing wrong? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? CentOS 4.3 Upgrade vs Clean Reinstall

I upgraded via yum on a previously cleanly installed 4.2 and hhave had no issues. No dupliicate rpms. Has anyone had problems? I suppose had this been a 4 -> 4.1 -> 4.2 -> 4.3 this would be different. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I point to the following *not* as a license for more experienced folks to become inordinately rude or terse with those who don't stick closely to the guidelines presented, but in the hope that some of the newer folks may have been ignorant of some of these "net common courtesies". My goal is that we'll see "better" questions than some of what we've had. Works like a charm. I pulled a spec file off of dag, and modified it for my purposes, and built an RPM for it. There are still plenty of traps, but no more than with cfengine on any other system =). getfullcomps.py

Just started trying to build Centos 4.x based distros (was doing this with Centos 3.x before), and I noticed that getfullcomps.py is gone from the comps-extras package. Is this no longer necessary? How does one automate the building of the comps.xml file now? Any pointers to new docs, because the old ones seem to still mention getfullcomps.py? Thanks...james

Indiana timezone changing

I have a couple questions... I am in Indiana and our time zone is changing. I used to choose America/Indiana/Indianapolis as the zone and we are changing to Eastern. Question 1) Is there a command line only way to change my timezone? I dont have access to X to run system-config-time. Doing a "system-config-time --help" or "system-config-time -h" did not give any information. Question 2) If the server is setup for NTP I presume I still have to change the time zone. Since Indiana-East is going away are the NTP time servers smart enough to know that Indiana-East is now just Eastern? Basically - do I have to change anything on my machines or does NTP just do it for me? Thanks, Jerry

mdadm and smtp yum update issue

greetings i have a newer centos 4.2 server using qmail for smtp the /etc/yum.conf has this in it exclude=spamassassin exim postfix sendmail so when i do a yum update to go to 4.3 i get this --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: smtpdaemon for package: mdadm --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Missing Dependency: smtpdaemon is needed by package mdadm how should i procede from here? evidentally mdadm wants a known smtp function as i do not get this error until i stuff exim and postfix and sendmail in the exclude should i undo exim in /etc/yum.conf exclude and then after exim is installed then remove it? with rpm -e --nodeps exim or another way? yum remove exim or? thanks in advance... - rh -- Robert Hanson - Abba Communications Computer & Internet Services (509) 624-7159 - www.abbacomm.net

ATI Radeon IGP 350M resolution problems

My HP 4010 and the IGP 350M video card. I can only get it to go into 800x600 mode. At one time, Resolution Display (gnome desktop) was giving me an option of 1024x768 and if I selected it the monitor went crazy. Now I don't even get that higher resolution as an option. I have searched far and wide for information on this card and the Radeon linux driver. No help at all. My /etc/sysconf/hwconf has: class: VIDEO bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: Card:ATI Radeon IGP330M/340M/350M desc: "ATI Technologies Inc Radeon IGP 330M/340M/350M" vendorId: 1002 deviceId: 4337 subVendorId: 0e11 subDeviceId: 005a pciType: 1 pcidom: 0 pcibus: 1 pcidev: 5 pcifn: 0 I might suspect that changing one of those values will give what I want. But I cannot find any information on what this all means. I have also read where some 3x0M owners have switched to the generic VESA driver with better success. I tried that and did not get a 1024x768 option to even try. Oh, I also tried the SystemTools -> Display utility, (this is what I used to switch drivers) and it also did not offer 1024x768. help? Pointers?

Anaconda seems to exclusively build off of the hdlist, so you would have to rebuild it if you want to come out of the anaconda install with a fully patched system. I do this for Centos4 with no major problems. If you like, I can send you the commands that you need to run to do this. I actually keep a full package respository locally for Centos, and nightly pull down all the updates, and rebuild the hdlist, and yum headers. When I build servers, I use kickstart off of my own repository. 0 -> fully patched centos4 server in 5 - 10 minutes, depending on what is installed =).
