FTP Server and IPTables?

I'm having a heck of a time getting vsftpd to work properly. When Iptables are OFF, it works fine, and when iptables is on, it dies. When I try ftp from a command line, here's what the session looks looks like: [root@mylaptop ~]# ftp ftp.server.com Connected to ftp.server.com. 220 Welcome to My Company FTP 530 Please login with USER and PASS. 530 Please login with USER and PASS. Socks server

Hi, I need to setup a socks server on my Centos 4.2 box. I need to have windows clients connect to a remote socks server to force all their traffic through a content filtered proxy server. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good socks server that will work with Centos Thanks Mace

Hi, Just a quick note to see if anyone else noted the changes in yum in the updates. I've disabled thhe new format until i can verify if it works? As i rebuilt yumex from Scientific Linux (RHEL SRPM rebuild) and i have not enabled centosplus i don't wanna mess my system. jfs directory modification times in centosplus

(This is a copy of an email I've sent to the jfs-discussion list. I'm copying here in the hope that I'll get help from somewhere...) I'm running Centos 4.2 with kernel-2.6.9-22.0.2.106.unsupported and jfsutils-1.1.10-3.2 from the centosplus distribution, with a jfs partition for my maildir mail spool, accessed using the dovecot IMAP server. It seems that dovecot doesn't properly track new incoming email, apparently because the modification time on .../Maildir/new doesn't get updated when a new message is linked into it from .../Maildir/tmp. CENTOS 4.2 crashes when ipod plugged in

A friend sent me an ipod to office to transfer music to it. It had a firewire cable and I have an Audigy soundcard with a firewire port. But when I connected the ipod to the firewire port, I got a lot of weird numbers and interrupt errors and the system crashed badly. Is there some problem with firewire support in the kernel? -- Roger D. Cannot access printing setup using VNC

Hi all, I try to VNC to my Centos4.2 located in remote branch office. When I try to open System Setting > Printing. It ask for root password as usual, I enter the password, OK, then nothing. The printing setting menu doesn't show. Is there any setting I must do to be able to run printing setting using VNC? Upgrading to CentOS 4.2 from FC2?

I am considering moving a Fedora Core 2 server to CentOS 4.2. Is it possible to do this as an in place upgrade? Also, I have a RH9 server that I would like to migrate to CentOS. Is that possible? Thanks for any insights, Steve

After install centos does not find hardrives (SATA)

Hi we installed centos on a Intel server board with LSI rad (no raid configured for the lsi). in Centos it sees both drives so we software raid them and the installation goes well and finishes properly. The problem is when the server reboots it can no longer see the hard drives and no just boots to a low level diagnostic shell. Any ideas? Thanks - Nathan - http://www.netdigix.com

printing server via http

Hi everyone, I'm currently running Centos 4 server with apache and mysql. My HP 4250dtn is connected to this server via JetDirect card. IP for HP printer is 192.168.1.100 IP for Centos 4 is 192.168.1.200 My question is how to enable the printer so that user can connect & print via http like http://192.168.1.100/printer I don't know if this is possible, but i'm sure somebody out there can shine some light on this for me.
