Adding HP7310 networked printing support

I have an HP7310 network attached. Looks like it uses port 9100 I want to print to it. And from my Asterisk at home server. I see that I do not have the "Printing Support" group installed. I guess this would be the first set. Then I see http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/hplip_readme.html Is this driver included in the Centos repos? There are a number of caveats. Of course, for me, the biggest is need to do a make. I bet the AAH build doesn't have what that will take!

Logging Bind answers

I am having a mail server problem where the mail to one domain is being sent to the wrong server. When I use "dig masonc.com mx", I get ;; ANSWER SECTION: masonc.com. 86400 IN MX 5 mail.masonc.com. ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: masonc.com. 86400 IN NS ns1.picadoo.com. masonc.com. 86400 IN NS ns2.picadoo.com. ;; ADDITIONAL SECTION: mail.masonc.com. 86400 IN A 207.44.194.3 However, when I send a mail to anyone(a)masonc.com, the mail service (postfix) on this server tries to deliver to server7.picadoo.com, another of my servers but not the mail server for the domain. Feb 11 10:50:17 server postfix/smtp[16053]: EB01D6280C6: to=<anyone(a)masonc.com>, relay=server7.picadoo.com[64.246.62.9], delay=8, status=sent (250 2.0.0 k1BEoDM9015689 Message accepted for delivery) I would like to examine the responses from named in the logs, not just the queries, but I cannot find a way to log them. Caching DNS question

I have caching-nameserver-7.3-3 installed on a Centos 4.2 system. The named.conf file which comes with the install has the following options: options { directory "/var/named"; dump-file "/var/named/data/cache_dump.db"; statistics-file "/var/named/data/named_stats.txt"; <comments snipped> }; However, when I look in /var/named/data there is nothing there and for that matter I can't find the dump-file or statistics-file anywhere on the hard drive. I didn't think there was any post install config for caching-nameserver-7.3-3. Is there something I am missing regarding the basic caching-nameserver install that I don't see a dump-file and/or statistics-file? -- Paul (ganci(a)nurdog.com)

Hiya, just trying to install a game (warsow). how to find cause of disappearing files

Hello....here is an odd problem for me. I have a Centos 3 server which has software installed that creates its pid files in the /tmp directory. I am not sure which script on the server is being run that completely clears the /tmp directory except for directories starting with periods. Can you guys think of a way for me to monitor these pid files and immediately log which process deleted these files as soon as it happens? thx...Bob.

SCSI RAID monitoring

I'm looking to buy some new high-reliability servers (mail server, cluster head node). I'll be doing a hardware RAID1 mirror w/ a hot spare, and I'm trying to decide between SCSI and SATA (albeit SATA w/ WD Raptor drives, so the price difference isn't as big as it would seem at first). I'm very familiar with 3ware's monitoring tools for their SATA RAID cards, and they work very well. What monitoring tools are out there for SCSI RAID cards? For that matter, what are the preferred SCSI RAID cards supported by centos 3 and/or 4? LSI MegaRAID is the one I'm leaning towards, but I'm open to suggestions. Hi All, downloaded and installed the latest jre, [root@localhost java]# rpm -iv jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.rpm Preparing packages for installation... jre-1.5.0_06-fcs [root@localhost java]# ls javarpm jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.rpm jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin [root@localhost java]# [root@localhost java]# whereis jre-1.5.0_06-fcs jre-1.5: [root@localhost java]# which jre-1.5.0_06-fcs /usr/bin/which: no jre-1.5.0_06-fcs in (/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin) [root@localhost java]# find / -name jre-1.5.0_06-fcs -print find: /proc/3730/task: No such file or directory find: /proc/5694/task: No such file or directory [root@localhost java]# But, it doesn't create the directory it's supposed to as per this, 8. The JRE is installed in jre1.5.(version number) sub-directory under the current directory. In this case, the JRE is installed in the */usr/java/jre1.5.0* directory. Verify that the *jre1.5.0* sub-directory is listed under the current directory. Type: *ls* I get no sub-directory, > [root@localhost java]# ls > jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.rpm jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin The RPM exists, though, [root@localhost java]# rpm -qa | grep jre-1.5.0_06-fcs jre-1.5.0_06-fcs What am I not doing?
