4.2 Kernel panic on rmmod ip_gre...

$ uname -a Linux xxx 2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Oct 27 13:14:25 CDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux $ lsmod | grep "[^0-9]0" | grepbyhand ip_gre 16865 0 3c59x 41213 0 tg3 85061 0 It is very likely an error that these have usage counts of 0. (the interfaces are very much up, and a GRE tunnel is configured) Seeing as the same thing happens with bcm5700 modules from HP it's likely this is not actually a module problem but a more basic networking logic fault. I can't test whether removing tg3/3c59x will result in a panic, but removing the ip_gre module broke the system (praise ilo...) - Not posting a trace since it's obvious why it broke... Comments? Does anyone know where to find a RPM of bugzilla for CentOS4 (or RHEL4)? I'm still very new at building RPMs, so I would strongly prefer to get one already built (and by someone who is better at it than I am). -- Matt

USB Problem

I am having this problem where out of the blue my mouse and UPS will stop functiong. Once this even occurs I will find multiple messages like: Jan 15 10:40:32 nureyev kernel: drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: control queue full Jan 15 10:40:42 nureyev kernel: drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: control queue full iin /var/log/messages. The only way I can get the mouse and UPS back is to ssh into the affected machine and do: rmmod ohci_hcd modprobe ohci_hcd Then the system will be good from anywhere to a few hours to a week when this occurs again. I am running an up to date Centos 4.2 albeit with the 2.6.9-27 SMP kernel. Pcmcia notebook card configuration

I just installed CentOS v.2.1 on my laptop, and am not familiar with and wondered if CentOS has a pc card config gui. I have DSL and a dhcp router and modem setup. I can't find a card setup for my wired eth0 card in CentOS. And, I'm command line deprived. Everything seems to work except the pc cards. Both the wired and wireless are Linksys. Help. Tony

nvidia driver problem, cant load

Im trying to install an old nvidia driver, the last that has support for obsolete cards. But when the compilation process ends I get an error: says that kernel version is not the same of the sources used to compile driver. I checked version of kernel sources and running kernel and they are the same, can somebody tell me whats wrong? -- Roger D. Hi there -- i am just looking for clarification on the yum "group install" option.... How can you tell what are valid groups? CentOS 4.2 x86_64

I have a couple of 64-Bit Xeon's with CentOS 4.2 x86_64 installed on them. They don't all have the same motherboards. I've having a difficult time getting CentOS 4.2 x86_64 to boot on some of them in SMP mode (UP works fine). After the installation of CD, it boots up but kernel panics with the following error: Badness in i8042_panic_blink at drivers/input/serio/i8042.c:992 This is the call trace: apic_timer_interrupt+133 vgacon_cursor+0 oops_end+64 release_console_sem+369 error_exit+0 :scsi_mod:scsi_delete_timer+19 :3w_9xxx:twa_interrupt+1323 do_IRQ+197 mwait_idle+86 cpu_idle+26 The Uni processor works fine. I tried the SMP kernel from Fedora Core 4 x86_64 which works fine as well. Any idea what's going on here? I've already tried disabling as many things from the BIOS as possible. Thanks for any help.
