Perl modules not working properly when installed via yum?

Hello, all - I've been dealing with this problem for quite a while, and most of my solutions have just been dirty hacks. I'd like to find an appropriate solution. I've installed perl modules in the past via yum. Sure, they get installed - but none of my perl applications can find them. I know that this is a long outstanding issue, because I have yet to find a real solution. Since I know nothing of perl, I'll go ahead and ask the stupid questions here. Is @INC defined anywhere in the system, where I can add paths to it, to include additional modules? Is inclusion of modules via @INC recursive, or does each path need to be defined seperately? I've tried to define $PERL5LIB, as I was told that this would be prepended to @INC, but this does not seem to be the case. Anyone want to lend a hand with this? I would greatly appreciate it. IP Management SW

Not a CentOS specific question, but I'll try anyway. :) I've decided I need a proper IP Management solution. In a perfect world I'd like something like QIP or NetID, but I have a feeling that's too much so ask, so I'll go for DHCP/DNS management. :) There's alot of different opensource products out there, but I'd rather get recommendations than spend days configuring all of them just for evaluation. :) Regards, Harald

The lates version of SAMBA is 3.0.10 for Centos yet the latest release from Sambas website is 3.0.20b? Where would I be able to find a more up to date package for Centos that has all the new features as well as the security fixes? I've tried samba website and I'm not sure if I can use the rpms for redhat 9 or fedora 4 ones with Centos?? Regards, -Paul

Update worked flawlessly (except for problems arising from saturated mirror bandwidth) Afterwards, however, 'yum update' doesn't work because of 'dag' repository failures. Taking 'dag' out of /etc/yum.conf lets me continue, what's with 'dag'? Is he (his site) updated? The only negative thing I've noticed so far is a ton of messages in /var/log/messages from dbus regarding the audit system. At this point, I don't know what they mean but nothing critical seems to be broken. ATI Radeon 7000 and DRI

OK, so I've got two PCs with Radeon 7000. One has PCI version of the card, and the other has AGP version of the card. Before update to 4.2, I had DRI enabled on both of them, and it worked stable for me (lucky me). After update to 4.2, the PC with AGP version of the card does not load radeon kernel module anymore, and it seems DRI related options from xorg.conf file are ignored. On the PC with PCI version of the card radeon module gets loaded and everything still seems to work nicely and stable. I remember some talk about DRI being disabled when Radeon 7000 is detected on Alpha (or PPC, not sure), and this being CentOS specific modification. Has this modification by any chance accidentally leaked into i386 packages? Or is this something that came from upstream?

Java Error - 4.1 - JDK 1.3.1_02

Hi I posted a message some time ago regarding getting JDK 1.3.1_02 running on CentOS4.1 - I mamaged to get this to run by installing the Oracle patch from metalink. Security: should I be concerned?

Two things have been weighing on my mind regarding security issues. The first is that when I downloaded the CentOS 4.1 ISO images, I could not get the sums to match even using different downloads from different mirrors. I decided that that I was doing something wrong and decided to trust the images. So far no regrets. But I am concerned that I get it right the next time. I thought I had read everything carefully and I also had a small amount of experience with them in the past. Decided eventually maybe they just hadn't been updated (this was about a month or so ago, IIRC?). Can one post the command used to gen the numbers so I can use the correct parameters next time? TIA My second concern is with security update announcements. For all the announcers but one (IIRC) I get "Invalid signature" displayed (using Evolution). I would ask "Should I be concerned?", but the answer is self-evident in security circles. So instead, I'll ask if this is acceptable in the official CentOS and I can continue to rely on their stuff in their opinion. Again, TIA And, please, no comments on the irony inherent in this. We don't want to be un-subscribed, otherwise castigated or fan the flames of possible list moderation. I know "the powers that be" will appreciate our cooperation. Last TIA
