Where to go for KDE questions.

I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to log in on the KDE forums on the KDE web site. Unfortunately, despite having registered, my account is not "activated", and I can't post threads. I am also not able to email the forum administrator, as one ironically has to be an activated member to do so. I've also noticed that trying to search their forums results in a MySQL error. So does anyone have a recommendation for a different group or community on line where KDE questions would be welcome? Dave

cyrus-imapd - unable to connect to POP3

This is the first time I am using cyrus-imapd package. I am unable to retrieve messages (pop3). At first, I had not entered the cyrus-master in /etc/hosts.allow and was getting connection refused. After adding the entry I am able to connect to port 110 but for some reason the pop3 server is failing the password authentication (see below). With the same userid/passwd I am able to ssh into the server. What other configuration am I missing. $ telnet 192.168.1.21 110 Trying 192.168.1.21... Connected to 192.168.1.21. Setting up YUM or APT

I am using Cent oS 4 and I would like to setup the YUM repositories. Can anybody help me setup YUM? THat would be to install software, add repositories, and such necessary stuff. I know how to use apt-get, but not on Cent OS ( I will use either YUM or APT, at a time, but learn both of them, sooner or later.) Thank you. -- "No-one dies a virgin. Life screws everyone."

Install pauses at "Determining hostname and domain"

For some reason, CentOS 4.1 waits approximately 3-5 min at the "Determining host name and domain" during kickstart. RedHat 7.1, RedHat 9.0, RedHat Enterprise 3.0, and even CentOS 4.0 do not have this problem using the same kickstart server (my kickstart server is configured to kick all of them). Does anyone know why CentOS 4.1 is particularly slow at this stage of kickstart? Thanks for any help.

Kicker crashes on 3.4.2

I recently upgraded to KDE 3.4.2 (all manually) I know this is not a KDE Centric Mailing List, but I tried searching the Web for this error. Moreover, I can't get to the KDE Forum. :( Kicker application crashes on logout. Got a lot of takers, but no solution for that. Does anybody know a solution for this one? (This is a known bug, but I really did not find any solution.) -- "No-one dies a virgin. Life screws everyone."

migrating thousands of users to openldap in centos!

List, I have 15 Tru64 Database Servers in different places all over my country, I also have thousands of users in all this servers, Now it's really a pain to administrate all this accounts in all servers, so I decided to install one CentOS server with openldap. My questions are: 1. Is it possible to migrate all users from Tru64 to one Centos/openldap server? 2. Do I have to install openldap in all servers in order to authenticate local users even though the link (between the server and ldap server goes down) and then replicate each other? 3. What is the best configuration of LDAP to fit this? 4. Is there any (Open Sorce) APP which do that? 5. Can I migrate all users using the migration tools from openldap soft in Tru64? Bind Setup

I highly appreciate everyone's help in the caching name server bit. Building on that one: Everyone knows my issues that i am having in terms of reverse lookup so the windows clients won't freak. I have decided to switch focus..as it seemed to make sense. I am now looking to setup a full DNS server for my internal network. Everything is actually set statically via DHCP using MAC addresses.(see attached jpeg). Remote archiving with tar over ssh

I am trying to create a one line command that will: 1. Find all files ending in .conf 2. tar these over ssh to a remote server. I have reached this point in my trials. a. I can find the files. b. I can tar them locally. c. I can get a simple fileset tar'ed to a remote server over ssh using tar -zvcf - /some/fileset | ssh host.domain.tld "cat > /backup/tarfile.tar.gz d. I cannot get tar to pipe find'ed files to the remote server over ssh. My current command line looks like this. find / -name "*.conf" | xargs -t tar -zcvf - | ssh \ hostname.domain.tld \ "cat > /var/spool/lvm_backups/hostname.city/confs.$(date +'%Y%m%d').tar.gz" I have tried replacing "tar -zcvf -" with "tar -zcvf - {}" and "tar - zcvf {}" to no avail. Mail server problem on CentOS 4.1

Hello list. I'm configuring mail server on CentOS 4.1 (migration from SuSE). Configuration of postfix with sasl is OK - server receive and sent mails using TLS and SASL authentication. Problems: 1. When mail arrives to server it don't go to Amavis-new (from Dag repo). I added lines to master.cf as described here: http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/README.postfix.txt and Amavis and postfix daemons starts fine. Mails just go to mailboxes bypassing Amavis-new. 2. When I try to receive mail from server through pop3 (110 tcp) or pop3s (995 tcp) (cyrus-imapd), I get an alert message: *Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.domain.com responded: Unable to locate maildrop: Mailbox does not exist* 3. How to setup: when sending mails from server console (pine or mutt) have to use sasl authentication? 4. Where are cert files used by cyrus-imapd to secure pop3s connection. I need to use my own certs. 5.
