httpd and krb5.conf

I've noticed that SELinux blocks httpd (standard CentOS httpd, simply installed from RPM) from writing to krb5.conf file. Question. Why on earth would httpd need write access to krb5.conf file?! Sure, it might need read access if it is configured to use Kerberos for authentication, but write!? I mean, web server that modifies one of the critical files (which is used for authentication/authorization)?

Are you saying that even if the drives are recognized, I will not be able to implement RAID in hardware mode? Announce list filters

Hi, (sorry, new thread, already dropped the previous postings) Johnny H. just posted a surprising feature: filtering options for the announce list. But they don't seem to be right or there is no announce standard. Pasi is posting storms of non i386 things. If you want just ATA/SATA support of single drives, that will work. The RAID functionality will never work, because it is 100% software-based (the 16-bit BIOS setup is just for boot-time). I call this "FRAID" and it is not hardware RAID (it adds *0* hardware). Any drivers will be proprietary and not open source, because they contain RAID code licensed from a 3rd party that is not GPL (and never will be, because it is the core IP of that 3rd party and the lifeblood of their business). I'm trying to install CentOS 4 on an A8V on the PATA/Raid drives on the Promise controller. The Promise controller is recognized (sata_promise), but the PATA drives are not recognized. Base on this thread https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=147303 it seems that there is a patch which was merged in 2.6.11 to get pata working. Any ideas how to proceed? KPPP: why root?

Hi All, I'm wondering about something that seems a bit odd. I've setup a CentOS 4 box for a client that is "still" using dial-up and to activate the connection appears to require root privileges. Why is this? The reason Linux was loaded on this box was to provide a very functional box that could be easily locked down so when the cat was away the mice couldn't play, however, if the mice need root access to activate the dial-up connection this really defeats the purpose. Whats up with Kppp needing root access? thanks, Mark
