And I can find Lucida Typewriter with that encoding in xfontsel. Migration

Hello all! I'm new to the list. I just upgraded 3 White Box Linux servers (database, application and internet) yesterday to Centos 3.4 using the info in http://centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19. Very easy, and that was a very helpfull document! The decision was based in the speed of updates, really much faster in Centos! Is there a similar way to upgrade a Fedora Core 1 server to Centos 3.4? Would it be possible? I saw some messages in the list about it (archives) but I don't know if in the time the version of Centos was 3.4, and some people said that it whas not possible because would be a downgrade of some packages... Any chance we can set up a low-volume "centos-announce" list so that we all don't have to read all of these non-Centos-specific E-mail threads about people figuring out how to admin a Linux box when all we need to know is when major releases/milestones/news items are available? Regards, -Tom

How to create a CD/DVD

Hi! Assuming I have all the files (basically I've downloaded the ISOs) of CentOS 4 (RC1 for now, but 4.0 in the future) how do I recreate the ISO images - both to regain the original 4 CDs (less important) - and to achieve a DVD image (more important but can probably be guessed from the answer to how to make the CDs). Any takers? [note I've burned many CDs - I'm basically asking for the command line to mkisofs et al to get an as near bit-perfect as possible ISO from source files only] Furthermore, even though I'm very new here, I'd suggest splitting up this mailing list into announce lists for the various releases (ie centos-announce-3.4 and the like, for updates/etc, with no posting by non-admins/maintainers) and a general discussion list (possibly also split into centos-2/3/4/all). It's running on my main database server :-) A dual xeon 3,6 ht - 2gb ram - 4 x 300Gb hd (md raid) 2x Gigabit lan nic. Interbase 6.01 and Informix 9.4 are running smoothly :-) Great job guys !

System Beep

Has anyone else noticed that their normal system beep (from XBell() and the like) no longer works after upgrading to CentOS 4?
