Secure server install

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll try. When I do a minimum install of Centos, which default users should I delete (users that won't be needed on a server) It will be used for webhosting, mail, sql.. And, what partitions would you advice me to create? /root, /tmp, swap, /... should I have more? /Håvard

Can anyone tell me what is causing htis by chance? I know it is the application. What's weird is i "fixed' it last time by reformatting the machine to stabilize this one app. Now after a month it crashes again.... Coraid Ether Drives

Hello My company is changing server software to CentOS on Dell equipment. At the same time we are expanding our RAID system from standard SCSI to either SATA, or the technology brought forward by Coraid using the AoE protocol. Before we take the final decision I am looking for some real experience with Coraid products on a scale of 30+ disks. We will be using a cluster of four servers with a mix of RAID10 and RAID5. RAID card recommendation

Hey all, After seeing the horrible lack of support for Promise cards in Redhat Enterprise/CentOS, I am looking for a recommendation for a good IDE RAID controller that is supported out of the box (i.e. I would prefer not to have to install via a driver disk). I would prefer ATA 133 over Serial ATA for now. Thanks! Sean

[Fwd: problems with ppp]

Hi, I installed CentOS 3.3 and kept the machine up2date. I installed poptop and the newest ppp-cvs version ( ppp-2.4.3-0.cvs_20040527.6) We are running a ssh + ppp tunnel for our internet tunnel/tunnel to our NOC. I can find the .c files: [root@natgw etc]# locate bsd_comp /usr/src/linux-2.4.21-27.0.2.EL/drivers/net/bsd_comp.c but not the modules (.o files) Thanks for your help. -- Kind Regards,
