Problems with CentOS 3.3 Disk2 Iso Image?

Hi All, I've downloaded this image (disk 2) from several sites, and it matches the MD5 sum. Burning it to a CD gives no errors, but the disk is failing the self-check at the start, and if I ignore that and try to install I get random packages which "cannot be read". I know the burner is OK, as I've burned other CDs on it just fine after burning the CentOS ones. Any thoughts? -Scott

Possible new CentOS user (currently WBEL)

Hi, For a few months i've been using WhiteBox Enterprise Linux. In fact, i've migrated all my companie's servers (about 20) to this RHEL distro like. Well, it's not that i'm not satisfied, but WBEL is a one man show and that causes me some preocupation. And besides, it seems to me that it can't stand up to the rythm RHEL evolves. That's why i'm writing to you, posing a few questions, if you don't mind to answer: 1 - Why did you choose CentOS ? 2 - If you have/had experience with WBEL, why do you prefer CentOS ? 3 - Is CentOS ahead of WBEL in terms of being up to date with RHEL ? 4 - Does CentOS releases an updated version everytime RH does ? 5 - What is (more or less) the time gap between a RHEL update and the correspondent CentOS ? Sun Gridengine and Centos

G'day. I'm having a little trouble getting Gridengine 5.3 running properly on a cluster using Centos 3.3. Everything appears okay, but my jobs hang in the queue with the gridengine complaining that node is overloaded, but there is nothing (unusual) running on the node and the load is 0. Has anyone else run into similar problems? -geoff

Hello all, Just need some info to clarify something. How is 3.3? By word of mouth I heard that their may have been some issues with it. However I have not heard anything here on this forum or any problems with RHE3 U3. So I am assuming all is well. Please verify if possible. Problem installing rpms with yum/up2date

Hi all, we have installed a fresh CentOS 3.3 system, imported the keys: rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY* trying to install a package fails: up2date -i mysql mysql-3.23.58-1.i386.rpm: ########################## Done. The package mysql-3.23.58-1 is signed, but with an uknown GPG key. Aborting... Package mysql-3.23.58-1 has a unknown GPG signature. Aborting... the same problem with yum yum update Error: Could not find the GPG Key necessary to validate pkg /var/cache/yum/update/packages/cups-1.1.17-13.3.13.i386.rpm Error: You may want to run yum clean or remove the file: /var/cache/yum/update/packages/cups-1.1.17-13.3.13.i386.rpm Error: You may also check that you have the correct GPG keys installed somebody knows what´s going wrong?` tia and best regards!

RHEL / Mini-ITX

Hi Everyone, I'd be grateful if anyone can help with a couple of queries I have. Recently I downloaded Centos 3.3 and cannot get it to install I my system. The system I am using to install is a based on an original EPIA Mini-ITX m/board. At a certain point in installing it comes up with an error saying something like "system not supported". Can anyone advise if they have got Centos installed sucessfully on an ITX system? In truth I am not surprised that it doesn't work as I guess it is not what you would original have seen as being used for an Enterprise Server, but lack-of-space at home prevents me from having a full server. The other query I have relates to differences between RHEL and Centos. I originally downloaded Centos as a means of studying for the RHCE/T certification given that I cannot afford the cost of the commercial/supported version. Can anyone point me to a summary of what is missing from Centos compared to the Red Hat Enterprise release and therefore may potentially hamper my studies. The site briefly mentions that "Non-free packages, such as those encumbered by a non-redistributable copyright or trademark, are altered to avoid infringement". yum update

Just installed fresh copy of 3.3 from isos. When I run "yum update" I am getting an error when trying to install updates: "Could not find GPG key necessary to validate....." I am sure I have missed a posting on this issue but have not been able to find it. How do I get & load correct GPG key? Thank you, Beth

hey, i'm trying to setup mrtg to monitor swap and memory. though every mrtg-config i've tried have faild. i've got the same mrtg-configs working in gentoo. so i'm wondering if anyone got mrtg working properly and if they could share their config? greetings.
