Is there a list of compatible motherboards? My Abit BE7 is not compatible with either Centos 4.1 or Fedora 3; just RH 9.
Any suggestions are welcomed....

There are many different versions of the BE7 (BE7, BE7-G, BE7-RAID, BE7- S, BE7II) ... what about it doesn't work?
If you have RAID on the motherboard, you might try turning it off in the motherboard's bios.
John -
Mine is the BE7-RAID and I did try it without RAID (moved the disk connector and turned off RAID). Neither FC 3 or Centos will install.

Unfortunately RH only indicates assembled servers rather than motherboards. Mine is assmbled by me and I would like to replace the motherboard with one that is compatible.

What is the error you get when installing? Maybe do a:
linux noapic noacpi nousb text
Also, make sure you have the latest BIOS flashed in from the manufacturer.

What issue where you having?
I looked at the the specs Intel 845PE and Highpoint HPT372 all should be compatible with CentOS 4.1. The RAID won't work on the HPT372 since it's a "Fake RAID" controller (had one on a KT7-RAID that I used just as IDE channels), but it should be recognized as just an extra IDE adapter.

When I do an install, it gets to where it is trying to load the installer (cannot remember the exact verbage) where it pauses for about 30 seconds. Then I get the panic and it has something to do with Interrupts.
This is done with the RAID disabled and the disk pair plugged into into the non-RAID ATA socket.
All works fine with RH 9. Does it have anything to do with Celeron 2.2 on the board? Someone told me that it may be due to the fact that some Intel chips are threaded.
I had no problem with an old Pentium III board.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated; especially since I seldom need to "look under the hood".

I would suggest the same thing that Johnny did .... 1. Update the BIOS to the most current version. 2. Do "linux noapic noacpi nousb text" at the installer boot prompt
One other thing to check is the memory ... try MEMTEST86 and let it run overnight.

Should not be an issue... I've loaded CentOS 4.0 on a Dell 2650 with Dual Xenon running HT and had no issue.
