Hi all,
Does anyone have problems with kernel 4.9 on armv7 devices?
I'm using bananapi M1, and on kernel 4.2 (from original centos 7 image), works very well. I've tried the latest 4.9, and I take freezes some minutes after boot.
I just had a "kernel:Internal error: Oops - BUG: 0 [#1] SMP ARM" on prompt before freeze. Thanks to watchdog to have reset the Bpi (it's at 350km to me :p).
I don't have actually more logs... and I have to rollback to 4.2.
Any feedback on this 4.9 kernel?
Thanks
I am running 4.9.13-203 on all my servers.
Onlo and Medon are outward facing. Rigel is internal and z9m9z.test is still in test.
All are running as well as I can see. All are my base install; Onlo and Rigel have added BIND and Medon has Apache. z9m9z is my mailserver.
I would be interested to know what you have added to the base for your Bpi. And which Bpi.
What kind of drive you are using (will the Bpi with its sata boot from sata like the Cubies?).

Oh, did you replace all THREE lines in /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf

Hi
Thanks.
It's a bpi M1 (http://www.banana-pi.com/eacp_view.asp?id=35).
I'm using it as backup server (got rsnapshot), and secondary mail server (postfix, spamassassin).
I got fail2ban and firewalld as well.
The OS and /boot are on a SD card, and the data on an encrypted (cryptsetup) hdd on sata port.
I did have modified the extlinux.conf to boot on 4.9.

Could as likely be a problem with the SD card.
With Cubies, if I only have uboot on the mSD card (no partitions), the uboot auto switches to the sata drive to load everything. Hans never got moving the uboot to NAND, but with this setup, I have more reliable HD than mSD card for booting.
I have been running solid on 4.9 since it was available.

I need to use the SDcard as OS drive, because my HDD is only for external backup, I put it in standby mode most of time to reduce power consumption.
The sdcard seems good, i"ve reduce the writes operations by the system on it.
How can I force the system to log when freezes?
