Hello everybody, I was hoping to get some suggestions from you guys about which ARM development hardware to purchase.
The hardware will have just one purpose; compiling and testing CentOS. With this in mind I'm leaning towards something Quad Core, good amount of RAM,NAND Flash, SATA and that has a heatsink . Does SATA seem reasonable or will a USB HDD serve just as well?
I live in Mumbai, India. So, I might not have all the options you guys have. I might be able to get Raspberry Pi, BeagleBoard, Cubie Board, Radxa, Banana Pi or Odroid from these guys https://www.crazypi.com/ or http://www.greenindiaelectronics.com/
If anyone from India is reading this, please do suggest reliable sellers.
Thanks Mandar Joshi

I am very happy with the Odroid U3s I have, they are much faster than BB and there is no comparison towards RPi. RPi are cheap but very very very slow. If you are interested just in raw horsepower, Odroid XU3 are a better option, but more expensive
Manuel
PS: did I mention that RPi are very very very slow ?

Is this the new RPi 2 which is an armv7 duo core? No sata though.

I was speaking about the older Pis ( that's what I have around ) but even the newer RPi is still slow compared to the other boards due to the lower frequency they operate at.

Good to know. I priced them out compared to the Cubieboard2, and by the time I added things that come 'standard' from my West coast Cubie dealer, they were the same price.

I performed some test in the second half of 2013. They required processor power (real time image processing) and results indicated that RPi < BBB < Cubie2 < Odroids. The older RPi has issues even displaying a decent CSS in firefox. And in order to compile a newer network driver for the RPi, after spending 20 mins watching bits flow by in a make <whatever that was>, I killed the job on the RPi and did a cross compile on the U3. 6 min later the new driver was in place and the RPi was happily using it.
Mandar: Depending on budget, I'd go with either Cubietruck ( http://www.cubietruck.com/products/cubietruck-cubieboard3-cortex-a7-dual-cor... ) -- maybe shipped directly from a Chinese supplier (I purchased my Cubie2 from eleduino.com but other options exist) or with an Odroid: XU3 ( or XU3 lite) if budget permits or U3 otherwise ( I got my first one directly from Hardkernel.com ( S Korea ) as they ship more or less worldwide )

I have Cubieboards for testing once there are builds for me to work with. I am quite happy with them, but the A20 is only a duo core. The Cubieboard 4 is a octo core, but they left off the sata and only a single otg usb.
Then there is the Wandboards. Pricey compared to Cubies, but there is a nice quad core with sata. A friend of mine is running his audio streaming server on one with F21.

it's not symetric octo too, it's big/little so only 4 powerful cores IIRC

You might look at the Cubox I4 Pro from Solid Run. It is a quad core armv7 i.mx6 with an ESATA interface and 2GB of RAM. I know that Solid Run will ship internationally (from Israel). If you buy it from them direct it is clocked at 1Ghz, however Newegg was selling a version clocked at 1.2Ghz (which is the one that I have). The Newegg version is out of stock right now. I'm not sure if they will have more. There is a vendor on Amazon UK selling the 1GHZ version.
Cubox also has HDMI 1080p graphics, 1GB ethernet (limited to 470MBps), optical S/PDIF audio. It's probably a bit more expensive than some of the others. I got mine for about $100 US when Newegg had them on Sale.
I currently have Arch linux installed, but will try to get CentOS running when I have time. I'm pretty sure people have installed fedora on this as well.

Also, the cubox comes completely packaged in a case and at least the one from newegg came with an SD card with android pre-installed. The only things you might need is a microusb to RS232 serial cable for the console and external esata drive.
