Missing dependencies for HA

CentOS 4.1 and Heartbeat 2.0.0. I'm trying to install the rpm's for heartbeat and heartbeat-stonith and get these failed dependencies. error: Failed dependencies: libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is needed by heartbeat-2.0.0-1.i586 libnet.so.0 is needed by heartbeat-2.0.0-1.i586 librpm-4.1.so is needed by heartbeat-2.0.0-1.i586 librpmdb-4.1.so is needed by heartbeat-2.0.0-1.i586 librpmio-4.1.so is needed by heartbeat-2.0.0-1.i586 libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is needed by heartbeat-stonith-2.0.0-1.i586 I tried looking for them under Fedora 3 and 4 without any luck. Anyone know were I can find them? I have openssl installed and I have rpm-libs installed but I'm still coming up empty.

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working

Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows. But it's still not working. To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across the following: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-i18n-list/2004-November/msg00030.html ... where someone says: "You need to have httx (htt_xbe) running to use iiimf in KDE." Okay, so I go looking on the net for httx, but can't quite figure out what it is or how to download it. So my question is what is it, where do I get it, and will it help me get Japanese input? Now, for anyone who needs a reference, what follows is how I came to find out about httx. I was following the instructions on this page: http://fedora.redhat.com/projects/i18n/iiimf-faq.html And here are the results of some of the commands they suggest to check if iiimf is running in KDE: [root@localhost dave]# service iiim status htt (pid 3193) is running... Compiling kernel/drivers for hw RocketRaid 1640

I picked up a RocketRaid 1640 card b/c it had support for "RedHat". Apparently, their version of "RedHat" is "stable"(9), which I pointed out was "dead" for all security purposes... (at least, that was what I understood from someone in one of the RH/clone IRC channels.) It turns out that I need to build a new driver from their open source code. This task is a little over my head. (Appears to be a 'lot' over my head, but I'm assuming that it just looks bigger than it is b/c I keep reading "compiling a kernel isn't that hard..." ... yet, I've yet to be successful on any platform.) I'm in this mess because I recommended our company use Linux for a fileserver. I think that once it is up and running, it will be the rock-solid workhorse that I claimed it could be... however, I've got to get past this hurdle first. Is there a FAQ for compiling a new kernel specifically for CentOS 4.1? I've tried some of the generic flavored FAQs, but I tend to get confused with the differences between the flavors. (I was reading something in the slackware forums about using lilo as the first step to compiling a new kernel... ) -- the point is that someone tells me "CentOS is identical to RHEL 4", then I go and look at RHEL 4 docs, and they say that the source package for the kernel has been removed, and you need to download the RPM which is only available from them... I can't be sure, however, I don't think CentOS is identical in this way... Really, I'd like a FAQ for specific kernel compilation on CentOS 4.1, however, failing that, here are the error messages that I'm getting: In trying to follow this guide: http://crab-lab.zool.ohiou.edu/kevin/kernel-compilation-tutorial-en/index.h… , I was unable to complete step 4: first and foremost, there was no mention of rpm-build in that guide, which I was told I needed to install, and did, seemingly without issue. Which I suspect was my own fault for trying to use a non-root script as root to install the kernel source. Bandwidth limiting

Since shapecfg is no longer part of the distro what are people using in place of cbq to limit/throttle bandwidth? I have an ftp mirror that, if left unchecked, will suck up the entire bandwidth of the CoLo site. KDE Upgrade from 3.3.1 to 3.4.2

I have downloaded the required KDE files (version 3.4.2)(I know what all files are required), and tried to simply upgrade using the rpm -Uvh command. But i began getting dependency problems. Now, what I did was searched google like a mad buffalo :P to find that missing files, and was successful to a great extent. But the weird thing was I got a few conflicts, which I can't around with. Please guide me what needs to be done. Here is the excerpt from the failure of dependency list . Help required on pxe booting + installation of CentOS

Hi, I have a (bugridden, idiotic) fedora 4 server with tftpd, nfsd and dhcpd support. I want to remove fedora from my network and initiate pxe installation of CentOS Linux on all machines on my network from my fedora box. I have the CentOS's pxe-kernel and pxe-initrd images. I have also compiled fedora's pxeboot file from the sources and placed it in /tftpboot/. Can someone please guide me through the steps I need to take to get CentOS to boot via pxe from my box and install from an NFS-exported directory containing the whole CentOS distribution ? Thanks for any help. And thanks also for CentOS. Red Hat is just murdering Linux with its distributions - Fedora is a great reason for people to use Microsoft Windows. proper use of alternatives framework

So in a previous thread about java installs, I became more aware of /usr/sbin/alternatives and the links in /etc/alternatives. In an effort to not get lost in that thread (and mostly because it's a seperate topic and may help others when searching the list) I decided to posit my question directly. Rather than hack like a caveman at my installs of java and other things that fit into the alternatives framwork, I've been reading the man pages and googling, but sometimes I need things spelled out using crayons and small words. Hi all, we have CentOS 3.3 running here on our Samba server. Problem is, that we need to mount samba shares on our Win2003 server. Is there a way to install (new) samba-3.1 rpms for CentOS 3.3? tia!

Java installation problem.

I downloaded the jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin files and then run it as ./jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin. It resulted in an rpm file. and then i used rpm -iv jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm Everything went fine and I didn't get any error. But when I do java -version ......i don't get any output. I would like to know whether java is installed on my system or not. PS: I have carried out all the proceses as root. -- "No-one dies a virgin. Life screws everyone."
