How To Approach a Re-install Questions

Hi All, I've just had to relocate and am using a new installation of Linux. I wasn't able to clone the previous machine's drive, so copied the directories to our server via FTP, but, I am wondering how best to approach this as I've never done this before. I'm interested in preserving all home stuff as well as apps I previously installed, but wonder whether just copying from old to new installation will work. It's the same OS and version. Will I run across lots of roblems with this? Should I just re-install everything,and save myself any issues? Curious. What are your thoughts on this? Cheers. Mark Sargent

Hobbit install requirements

I'm attempting to install Hobbit 4.2.1 on CentOS 4.3. When attempting to "configure -server", I get: : : Checking for RRDtool ... RRDtool include- or library-files not found. These are REQUIRED for hobbitd RRDtool can be found at http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/ If you have RRDtool installed, use the "--rrdinclude DIR" and "--rrdlib DIR" options to configure to specify where they are. Upgrade of Centos 4.1 with 4.2 ISO disc

Can I upgrade my Centos 4.1 system with the 4.2 ISO install disc? If so, how do I do it? It seams to want to do a full (i.e. format, wipe out old) install over everything. I do not want to lose my various configurations (e.g. kppp, kde desktop settings, etc) that I have already set up under 4.1.

The lvm2-cluster rpm is identical to the one already installed via yum. The lvm2 rpm is the same version, but there is apparently a difference in the file somewhere. Since these files have the same version number as what is already installed, what is the cleanest way of reinstalling them? I can remove and reinstall lvm2-cluster, but I can't do this with lvm2 since it is required by other things. This system is a vanilla Centos 4 system that has been updated to current via the standard yum repositories plus the csgfs repository. There are a few applications that were built from source, but these are all high-level applications and shouldn't affect the cluster at all. -- Bowie

Where to find old 4.2 packages?

I'm trying to find a copy of the RPM for the 4.2 package kernel-devel-2.6.9-22.0.1.EL.i686 which appears to have expired from the Centos 4 mirrors. Is there anywhere I can get copies of superceded packages? james

Apache and '(13)Permission denied: access to ...'

I'm attempting to install Hobbit and at the point of web access via Apache. The error_log states: (13)Permission denied: access to /hobbit denied I've tried a number of things and am still getting this: 1) /hobbit is located in /home/hobbit/server/www 2) Made sure all files are in the apache group 3) I've even chcon the files to httpd_sys_content_t Does CentOs 4.3 have SELinux enabled as shipped? (I'm not producing any files in /var/log/audit) (How do you tell if it's active?) Frank M.
