Getting yum update error

I am getting the following error on a yum update. What do I do? I tried it multiple times and get the same every time. Problems Formatting /boot With CentOS 4.3 on a DL360 G3

I have been trying to install CentOS 4.3 on an HP DL360 G3 (with dual Xeon 3.2 GHz, a Smart Array 5i, and two 36 GB disks doing RAID 1 mirroring). I'm doing all defaults (including the disk and LVM setup) and using the "Minimal" checkbox at the bottom of the Custom machine type package selection screen, so it's a very "vanilla" install. It zips through the "Formatting / file system..." just fine in a couple of seconds. When it gets to "Formatting the /boot file system..." it quickly moves up to about 90-95% complete, and then it totally locks up... the mouse quits moving, the animated cursor locks up... everything. I even left it overnight just to be sure and still the same. But, when I stick in a CentOS 4.2 CD, it runs fine. Also, I ran a media check on the 4.3 CD and it checks out fine. Any ideas? Thanks! Sendmail and Plain Auth

Hi, I want to do plain auth against my password file. However it has been difficult to find a proper docs and all i have found reuqieres recompiling or patching. I am not interested in ecrypted communication with a certificate. Just plain auth. one-shot raid mirror to remote?

I have a filesystem on a RAID1 partition created with a 'missing' mirror so I can periodically sync with an external drive for backup. Now I'd like to move the contents to a different machine that has a matching partition with minimal downtime. Is it possible to export the new partition via iscsi or an nbd device so that the old system will sync to it over the network allowing an unmount of the old to be followed by an immediate mount of the new mirror with a very short time when it will be unavailable? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell(a)gmail.com

Clamav

Folks, I just yum'd clamav last night for my mailserver. There do not appear to be any man pages for this package. Is there just web documents on what to do to create the configuration file, or is that already done, and I haven't found it yet? Thanks.. sam

fedora-usermgmt ?

I was about to install clamav from the dag repo, but added the kbs-CentOS-Extra repo lately. So, there's one as well and I thought I might better get this one since it is rebuilt for CentOS. I'm getting a few confusing dependencies, though. fedora-usermgmt noarch 0.8-1 kbs-CentOS-Extras 7.7 k fedora-usermgmt-setup noarch 0.8-1 kbs-CentOS-Extras 5.7 k fedora-usermgmt-shadow-utils noarch 0.8-1 kbs-CentOS-Extras 6.5 k Which made me think a second time and stop installing. There's no description for fedora-usermgmt. Can I install these three packages without concern? RPMforge mplayerplug-in seems to be locking up my sound device

Got home from vacation last night and ran yum update. Among other things installed was mplayerplug-in-3.25-1.el4.rf ... now any time I attempt to view CNN video, my sound device locks up -- I eventually end up having to kill firefox, and anything thereafter that attempts to access sound (such as system-config-soundcard) also ends up wedged. Previously this only happened sporadically and after several hours of successful use of the plugin. I have nVidia onboard sound, using the snd_intel8x0 driver module. Anybody have any suggestions?
