I would like to file a bug report for the error message: kernel: floppy0: data CRC error: track 77, head 1, sector 3, size 2 The error is real, it is the message that is in error. Where do I file this? Ted Miller Indiana, USA

trying to remove cyrus-sasl

I'm trying to remove the packages for cyrus-sasl using yum, but for some reason, yum wants to uninstall everything related to e-mail, as well as X-Windows, Gnome, etc etc. yum remove cyrus-sasl Transaction Summary ============================================================================= Install 0 Package(s) Update 0 Package(s) Remove 81 Package(s) Total download size: 0 Is this ok [y/N]: n Exiting on user Command How can I just remove cyrus, without uninstalling my entire desktop? xeon quad core?

Can anyone share their experience with installing RHEL / Centos (latest production release) on the Dell 2950 (or 2900) with the quad-core e5310 processor? Does anyone know what chipset Dell is using on this box? I've got one on the way, and I'm hoping to use centos as the 'host' OS for several virtual machines (some of them Windows pigs), running vmware server. some of the specifics in case they are relevant: Single Xeon Quad Core E5310 processor, 1066mHz fsb 16 gigabytes DDR2 667mHz ram Dell Perc 5/i raid controller, configured for raid 1 Dual 146gb SAS drives Intel Pro/1000PT dual port PCIe nic Any and all input is appreciated! The way it works for me is: 1) Install distro 1 on the first drive, and let it put its GRUB into the MBR of the drive. Mostly that is what installers want to do by default 2) Install distro 2 on the second drive but make it put its GRUB in the root partition of the second drive. Looking at the RHEL installation guide, this will be done via the "Configure advanced boot loader" option in the Bootloader Configuration phase 3) Once the installation of distro 2 is complete, boot into distro 1 and modify /boot/grub/menu.lst to include: title Distro 2 rootnoverify (hd1,0) chainloader +1 If there is any chance that you will want distro 2 to be the default at some stage, put this before distro 1, which will look like: title Fedora Core (2.6.14-1.1656_FC4) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet initrd /initrd-2.6.14-1.1656_FC4.img and modify the default= 0 to 1 Then if you later want distro 2 to be default you can change it back to 0 again. Doing it this way round avoids confusion if distro 1 gets a kernel upgrade and a new title line is added. wireless card for CentOS

Hi, I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box. By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper (or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever. Thanks

libmysqlclient not found, while compiling PowerDNS

Hi Everyone, I am trying to build the PowerDNS rpm from the source rpms powerdns-2.9.20-3.MIND.src.rpm, it requires opendbx-devel which I am trying to build from the instructions at (http://www.linuxnetworks.de/opendbx/download/index.html) I have subscribe to centosplus for packages like mysql5 and php5. I have the following MySQL packages installed [root@charlie ~]# rpm -qa | grep mysql mysql-server-5.0.22-1.centos.1 mysql-5.0.22-1.centos.1 mysqlclient10-3.23.58-9.2.c4 php-mysql-5.1.6-1.2.1.centos mysqlclient14-devel-4.1.14-4.2.c4.1 mysqlclient10-devel-3.23.58-9.2.c4 mysqlclient14-4.1.14-4.2.c4.1 postfix-2.2.10-1.RHEL4.2.mysql_pgsql.c4 mysql-devel-5.0.22-1.centos.1 I am unable to compile opendbx, if I issue the command rpmbuild -ta opendbx-1.0.3.tar.gz it fails with the following mesasges checking for mysql_init in -lmysqlclient_r... no checking for mysql_init in -lmysqlclient... no configure: error: mysql library (libmysqlclient) not found error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.40942 (%build) Any ideas why my mysql client libraries can't be found by the various build processes? Limiting files when using rsync

I use the following command to sync the home directory on the two computers, however I would like not to send the "dot" files e.g. ".ssh". Can that be done, and if so, how would I construct the command line? /usr/bin/rsync -av -e ssh /home/ 192.168.0.22:/home/ Many thanks.... Hi, I was wondering if I could get a little help with troubleshooting/configuring the cyrus-sasl package for Centos 4.4 to build properly with mysql support,for my mail server ' not supported myhost postfix/smtpd[3641]: SQL engine 'mysqlJan 21 10:55:27 myhost postfix/smtpd[3641]: auxpropfunc error no mechanism available when I put the following in /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf pwcheck_method: auxprop auxprop_plugin: sql sql_engine: mysql sql_hostnames: localhost sql_user: vmail sql_passwd: password sql_database: postfix sql_select: select clear from postfix_users where email='%u@%r' smtpaccess='Y' Hope you can help me,thank you very much.
