I have been attempting to create a custom fax cover sheet for a hylafax web front end called avantfax. It requires as input an encapsulated postscript file conaining the glyph definitions and the text to be subsituted as strings having the form XXXX-to-variable or XXXX-from-variable. I have been trying to create a valid eps file using a varitiy of methods with no great succes. So 58 (hex) maps to the 98 entry of the array and this gives the letter /X. 2D likewise maps to 46 and this is /hyphen. 74 maps to index 116 and this is letter /t and so on. The problem is that the application software is looking to replace the sting "XXXX-to-fax-number" and not <585858582D746F2D6661782D6E756D626572>. Is there an alternative form of prepresentation within an eps document to display using the actual ascii text and not use these lookups? I have noted that when documents are created using Acrobat that I get different commands that use ASCII text strings, but that these are broken in arpitratry places (presumably to allow expact glyph positioning on the image irrespective of font metrics on the target device). [Q] SSH have two entries on /var/log/secure on CENTOS 4.4???

We have CENTOS 4.4 on DELL server. I found if I login use 'ssh" ther will have two entries on /var/log/secure. One entry use local time and another entry use "green witch time,. (I guess). It ONLY happen on ssh. Telnet, FTP and Sftp no problem. Does any one know why? Not sure - I'm still pretty new to RHEL and its construction. Does that provide enough info for gdb to look through the kernel and set breakpoints, etc.? I need to build a kernel with full debugging enabled - breakpoints, etc. I know there's a relatively simple way to do this with rpms, but I don't know what it is.... Help? Thanks.

Moving the Home dir to new server

I have a new Centos installation that has an empty /home dir and there are no users...just root. I want to move the home directory from another server to the new one. At this time the old /home directory has been tarred with "-prf". That will keep permissions which could be a problem. Is there a simple way to move the /home directory? default Bind on CentOS 4.4 and reverse DNS subnets issue?

Anybody knows if the Bind version on CentOS 4.4 (9.2.4) has issues with doing reverse DNS for subnets? (networks smaller than /24) I keep a reverse DNS /26 subnet on Bind 9.3.1 (Fedora) and it works fine. I've a /27 subnet on CentOS 4 (bind 9.2.4), exactly the same config just different subnets and addresses, and it does not work. I do a "dig @localhost .......in-addr.arpa. PTR" and there's no ANSWER section. The logs provide no clues, all zones load up clean. Identical config, different behavior. Maximum frustration. :-/ -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/

Cannot boot; stops at Sendmail
