cross building rpms for 32bit OS

My test / development host runs CentOS-5.x x86_64. There I have successfully created an rpm for GiT-1.6.1-1 for x86_64. Now I would like to build the same rpm package for CentOS-5.x i386, but on the x86_64 machine. Is this even possible? Web based project management recomendations

I was wondering if anyone can recommend an advanced to enterprise class project management package (web based) that runs with a pretty "vanilla" centos install. I would prefer to stick within the realm of php/mysql (as I am not too familiar with the java servers), but would venture there if the reasons were there to do so. The approach is not software dev management, but rather just project (of any kind) management. Thanks in advance. d

installing centos from usb

Are there instructions on how to take the actual ISO install image (not a live image), put that iso file on a USB thumbdrive and install from that instead of DVD? I would be interested in putting a kickstart file on the USB also. so just plug in a USB and everything installs just the way I want/need. Thanks, Jerry

Installing Cent OS from a usb flash drive

I recently acquired a Fujitsu Lifebook 1610. Unfortunately, the machine was missing a lot of the stuff that would've come with it brand new, mainly the usb cdrom drive. Currently, I'm running Fedora on it, and I installed it using a usb flash drive with the help of a program called unetbootin(Probably not spelled right). to load the ISO onto the USB drive. I've successfully used the same program to load the Cent OS live cd onto a flash drive, and I've run it on the machine. Now, is there a way that I can install cent os onto the machine by way of the usb flash drive? I've tried the network install route, and didn't have any luck. Thanks Jim

CentOS5U2 waiting too long when ssh login to other linux servers

The waiting time is about 50s on my CentOS box now. "yum remove openssh* "and "yum install openssh*" can't make it right. "mv ~/.ssh{,.bak}" not works either. Creating a CentOS Print Server for Windows Clients

A while ago I looked into this and was told not to bother as it was a hack at best. Anyone shed any reliable info on creating a print server for windows nt -> vista clients both x86 and x46 for a few Canon and HP IP Printers. Would this be reliable, are there any caveats or issues to be aware of? Thanks! jlc

gdmgreeter and powersave

I have a bunch of workstations running CentOS 5.2. When the gdmgreeter is displayed, the monitor never blanks or powers off even though I have DPMS enabled in xorg.conf. When a user is logged in it works as expected. I Googled around and saw some references to this happening, but have not found a solution. Am I missing something obvious? The display adapters are Radeon 2400X's and use the most recent drivers from ATI. My users are students, and not very reliable in manually turning off the monitors when they are finished. Can anyone help me with this?
