OT: errors building packages from src.rpm (trying to rebuild RHELIPA)

Hi all, I am trying to rebuild RHELIPA packages downloaded from ftp.redhat.com. All goes ok except from python-psycopg2 package. When I try to rebuild, gives me these errors: + exit 0 Requires(rpmlib): rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 Requires: python-psycopg2 = 2.0.6-1 Checking for unpackaged file(s): /usr/lib/rpm/check-files /var/tmp/python-psycopg2-2.0.6-1-root-carlos RPM build errors: user brewbuilder does not exist - using root group brewbuilder does not exist - using root user brewbuilder does not exist - using root group brewbuilder does not exist - using root File not found by glob: /var/tmp/python-psycopg2-2.0.6-1-root-carlos/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/psycopg2/*.pyc File not found by glob: /var/tmp/python-psycopg2-2.0.6-1-root-carlos/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/psycopg2/*.pyo If I go to /var/tmp/python-psycopg2-2.0.6-1-root-carlos/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/psycopg2/ directory, it is right: there isn't exists any *.pyc or .pyo file ... Building Custom Kernel - CentOS 4.4

Hi All, I am having issue when trying to build a custom kernel in CentOS 4.4. Current Kernel Version is 2.6.9-42.ELsmp and the server is HP Proliant DL380 G3. I downloaded the source rpm and then installed it. Gave the command, rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/kernel-2.6.spec. But it throws me an error after patch operations. software raid1 syncing

hello all, I have a setup that is raid 1 and put the mirrored drive back in and now it is still showing as degraded saying: raid1: raid set md6 active with 1 out of 2 mirrors with this message on all the raids.i know i am wrong by saying this but i thought putting in the driving and rebooting would start the re syncing itself. what do i have to do to add this back in, i am so confused with this process. centos 4.x

Please read again how my tiny repo tries to "fix/hack" the 4 libs from EPEL that break RF's MPlayer and VLC. Should the Fedora people be insensitive, what prevents you from just "suck in" the newer libdvdread, libdvdnav, libcaca and lzo from EPEL and just rebuild RF's VLC and MPlayer? Because, honestly, a good deal of people only need the MPlayer+VLC+gstream stuff from RF. My understanding is that RF is so huge that it's very hard to manage, but... Why do you believe there are so many Linux distros? Are they really NEEDED? Nope. They're more than 3-4 distros because people can NOT cooperate properly, and their quick fix is to fork and whatnot. Question on security issue alert from recent centos-announce

What exactly does the announcement mean to the CentOS community? >From what point in the past to what point present/future should the user community be concerned? Once you find the final culprit, how sure will you be whether any issue is/was malicious vs benign? Do you perform regular server checksums to compare what _might_ have changed (i.e. tripwire, etc)? What is the level and mitigation of damage control - current and future? What additional specifics can we learn from you - from safe/tainted media checksum files to ISO media itself? From keeping machines up and running to needing a fresh install? Could the same thing happen, or did it, with the upstream provider, or is it limited to the CentOS community? Thank you. Scott

All users having an account on www.centos.org need to acquire a new password through the "lost password" system of Xoops. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policies and aims to be 100% binary compatible. (CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork).", AND all additional non-PNAELV packages will remain in the extra repository??? thanks bn

Multiple Internet facing Nics - Gateway issue

I have a server with 4 nics. Two are using different internet connections, both with static IP's, and two are connected to our private network. The two internet facing nics seem to be battling over the gateway designation. Which ever I designate as the gateway the other stops responding to incoming traffic. I need both to listen to inbound traffic. One for our main web page and the other for another web server. I found some information of Iproute2 but that did not seem to solve my issues.
