Centos/RHEL 64bit and ARM questions

I am digging a bit into RHEL 7 roadmap info. It seems there are statements that RHEL 7 will only support 64 bit. Is this corrent, and what for Centos 7? Also the ARM info I found was the target is ARMv8 which is 64 bit, not the ARMv7 which is 32bit. Any clearification is appreciated.

The state of xfs on CentOS 6?

We're looking at getting an HBR (that's a technical term, honkin' big RAID). What I'm considering is, rather than chopping it up into 14TB or 16TB filesystems, of using xfs for really big filesystems. The question that's come up is: what's the state of xfs on CentOS6? I've seen a number of older threads seeing problems with it - has that mostly been resolved? How does it work if we have some *huge* files, and lots and lots of smaller files? mark

Enlightenment and CentOS 6.5

Good morning, I've been looking around for binaries for Enlightenment (>= 0.17) for CentOS 6.5. I've found something called "elementary" from OpenSUSE but I'm not sure what Elementary really is :) Any suggestions? Thanks! Jeff

freebsd hangs when install on centos6.5

Hi, All The freebsd(version: 10.0, RC3) can't be installed as kvm guest based on CentOS 6.5(kernel: kernel-2.6.32-431.17.1.el6.x86_64, qemu-kvm: qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2 -2.415.el6_5.8.x86_64). When installing it, it always shows 'booting' and hangs. My cpu&memory information: CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v2 @ 3.00GHz Mem: 132189664 My qemu-kvm command: /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -name testbsd -M rhel6.5.0 -enable-kvm -m 2048 -realtime mlock=off -smp 4,sockets=4,cores=1,threads=1 -uuid 7f68743b-d725-4c7d-dc7e-9aa6712584b3 -drive file=/home/vAPV/test.img,if=none,id=drive-ide0-0-0,format=qcow2,cache=none -vnc 0.0.0.0:0 -device virtio-balloon-pci,id=balloon0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x4 --cdrom /home/downloads/FreeBSD-10.0-RC3-amd64-dvd1.iso Any suggestions? kvm and 6.5

I'm trying to create a 6.5 VM on a 6.5 system using virt-install... # virt-install --network bridge:br0 --name kfat --ram=2048 --vcpus=2 --disk path=/var/lib/libvirt/images/kfat.img,size= 16 --cdrom=/home/downloads/CentOS-6.5-x86_64-minimal.iso I get through the first part of the installation, asks for disk layout (I leave default, tell it to take the whole vdisk), networking (I setup a static IP), then bombs with an error that it can't mount / not sure what to do next. -- john r pierce 37N 122W somewhere on the middle of the left coast
