Screensaver (or screen blanking) at login screen - CentOS 5.2 or 5.3

Hey guys, I've done a ton of googling, searching and asking in the forums, etc, and I haven't found a way to do this... :) I'm trying to find a way of having some type of screen saver at the login screen so that if I leave a machine not logged into, it won't burn-in the screen. Does anyone know of a way to achieve this? In specific, I'd love to have it simply blank the screen and leave the screen on, just black after maybe 5 minutes of inactivity at the login screen. :) Thanks in advance, it's really appreciated! :) Dave

OT: Web "Project" type software

Sorry for the OT... I'm looking for some software to fill a fairly specific set of requirements. I'm not necessarily looking for project software, but it seems like the closest to match what I need. I'm also not tied into open source or free. If anyone knows of any software that might fill these requirements I would appreciate it. Here's what I'm looking for: 1) Web enabled application 2) File storage - need to stare a large amount of large cad files - be able to categorize file storage (not one large list) - keep different revisions of files with some kind of notes - be able to search files (at least include names in a search) 3) Task - assign and keep track of tasks (searchable) 4) Store meeting notes and minutes (searchable) 5) Would like to support LDAP 6) Extension on file storage - since we'll be storing a large files and many of our users are across a WAN we'd like to sync/mirror the files to a few different servers. I'm not sure how we'd control how the users get the "closest" server but.... I found dotproject on sourceforge. It fills some of the needs, but it's file storage appears to be one large list, doesn't appear to support LDAP, and I don't see much for searching. Anyone know of software that might do these things? Hi all, I have a 3G AM2 quad core CPU... x86_64 centos 5.3 When I am doing backing up to my external USB drive my system becomes sluggish. Clicking on a thunderbird compose takes some time to pop up the window. Typeing doesnt keep up etc... Is there something I can change so this backup doesnt slow my system down so much? I dont see HOW it can be taking so much CPU. top at times shows 0 idle or 11% idle from a USB backup. Thanks for any suggestions. Jerry

Is it possible in vim to do the following: Search for this block of data: # Catalog Service 2.0 for uat03 <LocationMatch "^/Services/?"> PathPrepend /inquiryservices Cluster 172.21.1.1:999 </LocationMatch> And change Cluster 172.21.1.1:9999 to Cluster 172.21.1.2:7000 It needs to have uat03 (or 02, 01) on the line and this line 'PathPrepend /inquiryservices' for the Cluster to be changed.

CPU utils almost 100%

Dear All, I have been using the following for along time but recently i noticed the following Centos 5.2 squid stable 2.6 clamav + havp i do have MRTG running which monitors CPU + bandwith usage of my squid proxy server i notced recently that the cpu utilization peaks to abt 100 % at 4 am every day and becomes normall at 10 am cpu 4.5%us 2.3% sy 0.0%ni 2% id 95% wa notice the 95% wa the only thing that i added was i have a cron job running clamscan at 4 am but initally it was workin without any problem when i run top it show so when i noticed this high cpu utilization i removed the clamscan entry from my crontab file so as to diable it but the problem still persists i wanted to disble all the daily crontab jobs but i jus wanted to know which process could be actually causing this appreciate your advice and help regards fabian -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

ghostscript 8.64 errors.

Hello, To fix some issues in working with gs 8.63 I had to upgrade to 8.64. I build the rpm from ghostscript-8.64-9.fc11.src.rpm. How do I troubleshoot these restarts? I suspected hardware failure (power supply, cooling fans, etc.) but somehow the restarts happen way too periodically, so I have second thoughts on software as well. CentOS 5.3, fully updated. Btw, I don't have physical access to the machine until September, so diagnosing hardware is pretty limited atm. Only remote ssh available. I would really appreciate any advice on this!
