OT: Setting a CentOS to gateway a private IP address

This is mildly off topic since it has more to do with TCP/IP networking than with CentOS per se. Certain scripts "hang" the terminal on logout

I have an init script that after running, causes my terminal not to log out cleanly. Here's what i mean: # /etc/init.d/script restart << this runs fine, returns my shell prompt # exit << When I enter this command, my shell window just stays "stuck" and actually won't close down. Anyone know why this happens?

What keeps logging to my console?

Hi folks, I have lots of messages like these appearing on my local CentOS 5.2 consoles: > Oct 17 12:03:29 machine kernel: printk: 1 messages suppressed. > Oct 17 12:03:29 machine kernel: pbond0: received packet with own address as source address I have disabled console logging in syslog.conf, and even if I shut down syslog and kernel logger, the messages keep coming on the local consoles (not on remote consoles). So the question is: What process logs directly to the console bypassing syslog/kernel log facilities? How can I find where to stop that? Thanks for any hint or help. Dirk

iptables local forwarding

Hi I am trying to forward port 80 to 8080 locally using iptables with the following /sbin/iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 8080 However this does not get put into the iptables configuration even after running iptables-save Have i missed something along the way? thanks

Export restrictions on CentOS 5

What are the export restrictions on CentOS 5.x? Since it's a rebuild of RHEL I'd suspect it has similar restrictions to what Red Hat has outlined at the following page: http://www.redhat.com/licenses/export/ Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

freeradius DNIS

Not sure if this is off topic but I installed freeradius with yum on centos 5 and I'm hoping someone has some advice on getting DNIS proxy working In the acct_users file I have DEFAULT Called-Station-Id == "5500", Proxy-To-Realm := "xxx" Fall-Through = yes In the proxy file I have realm xxx { type = radius authhost = xxxx:1645 accthost = xxxx:1646 secret = something } But when I test it never seems to trigger the DNIS proxy setup. Centos/Fedora core won't talk to an Epson Workforce 600 printer

Hello! Has anyone had any luck getting CUPS to talk to an Epson Workforce 600 printer? I got pipslite and eklite.ppd extracted (and modified it to use Letter instead of A4) but I can't seem to get CUPS to talk succesfully with the printer. The printer configuration under Gnome widget does show that CUPS detected something (pipslite:...) but when I try to use it I get a wrapper error. The wrapper itself is in binary so there's not much I can make of it. This was done with the Workforce600 in wireless mode. I've had no luck with various combinations so far with direct ethernet, wireless ethernet, http:, ipp:, lpd, socket: attempts. Regards, Chip Campbell
