Error rebuilding PHP5 under CentOS 5

First off, I apologize if this is off-topic. I'm sending it to the CentOS list because I would have to believe this is a configuration issue of the packages CentOS/upstream are providing. In any case, I have to start somewhere. While re-building PHP5 under CentOS5 (to enable Oracle functions via the --with-oci8 option), I receive a compile error while compiling cast.c because the cookie_io_functions_t type is not found. To resolve the issue, I added the -D_GNU_SOURCE option to DEFS in the makefile and (I think this is redundant but I didn't have enough time to go through the configuration options) I add: " #include <libio.h> "in the php_config.h file Gut feeling is that I should not have to change the source code and a combination of -D options in makefile should resolve this. If this is a source code issue, then I'm surprised. OK. After I did these changes, I was able to successfully build PHP5 using the php-5.1.6-5.el5.src.rpm source rpm of the original package for CentOS5 but not the latest php-5.1.6-12.el5.src.rpm source rpm found in updates. I used to build PHP5 under CentOS 4 without having to change source or -D options (using PHP 5 in CentOSPlus) and it worked fine. MY QUESTION: ------------- Is this a configuration issue or should I be reporting this to the php list? ------------- Again, I've done this under CentOS4 with no problems whatsoever. Assertion failure in __journal_drop_transaction()

Hello all, Last night a server of mine went belly up with my remote log server telling me this log entry: kernel: Assertion failure in __journal_drop_transaction() at fs/jbd/checkpoint.c:615: "transaction->t_forget == NULL" During this time, we had high email loads and I have my 2 /var/spool/postfix_1 and /var/spool/postfix_2 partitions mounted with "data=journal" option. ( I have 2 instances of PF installed). A hard reboot was required and all appears fine now. However, I had another server that had similar symptoms 48 hours earlier. Same partition setup, same applications. Both running: Centos 4.4 kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp Ideas? TIA, Dave

Hello All. Is mod_php for apache hiding in a repo somewhere? I did a yum --enablerepo=centosplus install mod_php (as googled) but I don't see any mod_php lurking anywhere. Anyone know what's up? postgres erros on RHEL 4

Hi All, I set up posgresql on RedHat El4. Below are rpms I installed. [root@LinuxBox etc]# rpm -qa |grep postgres postgresql-libs-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1 postgresql-devel-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1 postgresql-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1 postgresql-python-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1 postgresql-server-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1 Then, I did below commands to create a user and a database. I'm for not giving accurate information, I am able to create new virtual machines as a non-root user. I have windowsXP and Ubuntu installed on my hard drive as well. So I am trying to create a new virtual machine with custom settings, and using my hard drive, so I can boot windowsXP or Ubuntu while Im in CentOS 5. But when I reach to the end of the settings it tells me I do not have permission to access that file. NAT from eth0:0 port 80 to lo port 8080?

I'm stumped. We have a CentOS 4.4 box with something like the following IPs: eth0: 64.61.61.100 eth0:0 64.61.61.112 eth1: 10.0.0.100 lo: 127.0.0.1 (of course) We want requests to 64.61.61.112:80 to be NAT'ed to 127.0.0.1:8080. This seems like it should be really simple -- maybe the following? -- I've tried variants combining this rule with a POSTROUTING rule, tried dnat, snat, etc. -- but no luck. echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp -d 64.61.61.112 --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 127.0.0.1:8080 The box's iptables are rather vanilla -- pretty much the standard "allow ssh, http" in (I added 8080 just to eliminate that as a possibility, too, even though 8080's only listened to on localhost). cups error 426 when accessing admin functions

Hello, I've got a centos 5 machine running the latest cups rpm v1.2.4. I've included my config minus comments below. My problem is via a web browser i can access the / resource without a problem, but when either clicking on any admin function or direct browsing to an admin address /admin i get a message error 426 upgrade required and i'm told i have to connect to an https address of the same name. When either clicking on that address or direct browsing to it i am getting an error 404 page not found. This config worked previously in 1.22 so i am not sure where my issue is. Enhancing the mouse support

I've been looking around for info on how to enhance the mouse support in a newly installed CentOS5 system and all I've managed so far is to get more confused. It seems that the "evdev" driver is a necessary tool but to compile that requires an xorg SDK which I can't even find. I've probably used up more than my fair share of Google searches for the weekend on this one, thought I'd ask and see if (hopefully) I'm missing something truly obvious and simple. The end result I'm looking for is to be able to map the extra buttons on my trackball to whatever event I'd like it to do. So for instance there's an extra button next to my left mouse button that I'd like to map to a double click event.

CentOS 5 ssloooowww when network unavailable

This is undoubtedly an upstream issue, but ... I've been messing about with that hp pavilion trying to get wireless working. If I boot with the eth0 NIC plugged in, everything is blazingly fast -- GDM comes up in a few seconds, the Gnome startup splash screen barely has time to appear before it's gone again, shells pop up the instant I click Open Terminal. If I unplug the network and reboot, it all goes to hell. It takes several minutes for GDM to start, the splash screen sometimes lingers up to 10 minutes after the window manager is running, terminal windows take varying lengths of time from 2-15 minutes to open. It even takes 5-6 minutes to mount filesystems from the USB drive. Nothing unusual appears in "top"; gnome-system-monitor is one of the apps that takes forever to launch (to the point that I thought it had crashed), but it doesn't show anything odd either. No activity in the various /var/log files. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Screen blanks after initial setup (Centos 5)

Hi, The installation process went without noticable problems; this is true to the setup phase immediately after the installtion. However: after pressing "Finish" in the Setup Agent the screen blanked on me - Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2, Ctrl-Alt-backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't help. Nada. Did someone else have encountered this? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
