CentOS 5 and Broadcom wireless

I've got CentOS 5 installed on my hp pavilion ze 5300 laptop and the network configuration UI says my wireless NIC has been correctly identified and assigned what appears to be the right Broadcom device driver on eth1. However, the inteface doesn't come up. Google doesn't find anything recent about using Linux with Broadcom except for someone's passing remark that Ubuntu 7 beta seems to work with it successfully. Everything else points to using ndiswrappers and the Windows drivers. Am I stuck going that route? Has anyone successfully used wireless with the stock drivers? Has anyone who had experience with ndiswrappers in earlier versions of CentOS (which I haven't) gone through the effort to get it working on CentOS5? Clues, troubleshooting suggestions, etc. appreciated.

Anaconda doesn't support raid10

So after troubleshooting this for about a week, I was finally able to create a raid 10 device by installing the system, copying the md modules onto a floppy, and loading the raid10 module during the install. Now the problem is that I can't get it to show up in anaconda. It detects the other arrays (raid0 and raid1) fine, but the raid10 array won't show up. Looking through the logs (Alt-F3), I see the following warning: WARNING: raid level RAID10 not supported, skipping md10. I'm starting to hate the installer more and more. Why won't it let me install on this device, even though it's working perfectly from the shell? Why am I the only one having this problem? Is nobody out there using md based raid10? Russ

performing binary upgrade centos 4 to 5

Hello, I'm trying to take a box from 4.4 to 5.0 and doing it via binary yum upgrade. I'm following the procedure at: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2007-April/013660.html for taking a 4.x box to 5. I've removed any unneeded rpms, and confirmed the state of the system. I downloaded and installed centos-notes-5 and ran an rpm -Uvh centos-release-5 which worked. I imported the centos 5 gpg key and confirmed the status of my yum. Then i ran: yum upgade this didn't work, yum didn't recognize that as a valid option. Is that a mistype? Or is there another step i have to do? Thanks. Dave.

FUSE and/or NTFS on CentOS 5

Pointers? I found a .src.rpm for 2.6.0 and it compiles OK, but when I build ntfs-3g (which is what I really want) against the installed fuse-2.6.0 I still get a dependency failure installing the ntfs-3g RPM which says it wants fuse-2.6.3.

reading lvm

Hi, I don't like to start messages out this way and this is my opinion but i'm really beginning to hate lvm. With that out of the way here's the situation. I have a centos 4.4 drive with two partitions on it, one an hd*1 partition former /boot ext3 partition, which i can read fine, but which doesn't have the data i want. I've got some data on an lvm volume /dev/hd*2 which contains two partitions within it's volume, the last one which i believe is swap and the first one which was a former / filesystem and has data on it i am trying to obtain. Using fdisk i can read that it's linux-lvm, but i can't get mount to read it. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Dave.

CentOS 5 and the nvidia driver

Has anyone with an nvidia video card had issues with CentOS 5 so far? I've been holding off on installing 5 at home because of the trouble I've been having with my video here at work, but here I have that lovely ATI card and there I have a geFORCE 7100gs and am, so far, successfully using the nvidia driver with CentOS 4.4 without significant problems. Netgear WG511v2 card and CentOS 4.4

Alle, Does anyone have any experience with with Netgear WG511v2 cards and V4.4? I read the post @ http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4600&forum=30&po… but the system doesn't even seem to see the card. "/sbin/cardctl ident" shows no info on slot 0/1. "/sbin/modprobe prism54" comes back with nothing. I thought this was supposed to work out of the box. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Camron -- Camron W. CentOS 5 install - libgcc signature verification warning in install.log

Hi, I installed CentOS 5 from DVD and noticed this warning at the top of /root/install.log: Installing libgcc - 4.1.1-52.el5.i386 warning: libgcc-4.1.1-52.el5: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e8562897 Wondering if anyone knows why this error occurs. Is this expected? Thanks, Venkat

On 2 srv centos 4.4, run slapd. On one, supportedSASLMechanisms order is : supportedSASLMechanisms: DIGEST-MD5 supportedSASLMechanisms: GSSAPI supportedSASLMechanisms: CRAM-MD5 and on the other one is : supportedSASLMechanisms: GSSAPI supportedSASLMechanisms: DIGEST-MD5 supportedSASLMechanisms: CRAM-MD5 i'd like to use GSSAPI on all srv ...
