Headers update frequency in local repo

Hi all, I'm trying to build a local repo as a mirror of basic repos ([Basic], [Update],[Addons], [Extras],[CentOSPlus]) and popular third part repos ([Dries],[DAG] and [kbs]). The doubt I have is ¿Is needed that I regenerate the repo headers [1] every time when I've updated the local mirror repo [2]? [1] Eliminate old headers and generate new ones with createrepo script. [2] I'll use rsync tool to syncronice the repos. Thanks in advance.

time command

Hi I am wanting to time how long it takes a couple commands to run. I can do "time command" and it tells me. How do I do multple commands at a time. I tried: time command; command no good time "command; command" no good I can make a script I guess but thought there was a more elegant way. Thanks, jerry

2 isp in one server

Hi, is it possible to have 2 different ISP in one server? i have 2 NIC cards im going to config ISP1 in NIC1 and ISP2 in NIC2? what should be the configuration for this setup?

Updates?

I just installed CentOS 4 on a new server and now I'm looking for updates that have been released. I like to keep a local mirror of all the updates so I can apply them to other machines easier/faster (this of course assuming I end up installing CentOS on more servers.) So, where are those updates mirrored? With RH/FC, I can hit any mirror and rsync the updates folders. CentOS Firewall configuration

Hello, When i did the basic CentOS install i selected incoming ssh, ftp, www, and smtp in the configuration dialog. Now my needs have changed and i'd like to add to those rules with samba, this box runs it, and bacula the client. I was wondering a howto on what to put, i know the ports i need, or a web configuration util? Thanks. Dave.

OT: Fonts on CentOS 5

Hi, I have tried SuSE Enterprise Desktop 10 and its fonts are very pleasing. Web browsing is very nice with Firefox and those fonts. It would be very nice to have those fonts in CentOS 5 and even CentOS 4. Searching on the net didn't help me very much. Ideas? vista humor

All, Well I got a new laptop with vista. Got it on monday and I have seen 4 blue screens on it. I am getting ready to dual boot it and centos 5 (any day!!!). I just smile..... Please no flames on why vista. I had to for checking other things out... Jerry

HD/Partitions/RAID setup

I have a machine that's been configured as follows using its BIOS tools: SATA-0 is a 160 GiB drive used as boot SATA-1 and SATA-2 are both 500 GiB drives and were configured as a RAID-1 in BIOS. When the system boots up, BIOS reports 1 160 GiB SATA drive, and 1 Logical volume as RAID-1 ID#0 500 GiB, which is what I would expect it to report, as the two drives are now raided together. However, when I boot into the Centos installer and I get to configuring the partitions, it lists both sda, sdb, and sdc as available. Both sdb and sdc are 500 GiB. I would've expected to only see one drive for the RAID setup. Can someone explain why I see both drives and how am I supposed to configure them? I thought if I configured the BIOS to raid them, I wouldn't have to do anything in the OS other than to format the thing and expect it to work. -- W | It's not a bug - it's an undocumented feature. +-------------------------------------------------------------------- Ashley M.
