perl on CentOS 4.4 : PERLIO=perlio vs stdio, readline error handling

I sometimes use an example from readline entry in perlfunc(1). This used to work for me, but know (after I upgraded to CentOS) works only if PERLIO=stdio is defined in environment. BIND with ACLs

Dear Friends, I created um DNS server for network Internal and External same SERVER, but the control by ACLs in named.conf don't work, when I active ACLs the server don't resoluction external domain names. dovecot disconnect(s) / new facts

Hi, I just tried the below with the current version 1.0 RC15 (from the dovecot website) and I still got the Problem: telnet gives me the following output: -----8<-----8<-----8<-----SNIP-----8<-----8<-----8<----- +OK dovecot ready.u-ERR invalid command u s-ERR invalid command s e-ERR invalid command e r-ERR invalid command r -ERR invalid command u-ERR invalid command u s-ERR invalid command s e-ERR invalid command e r-ERR invalid command r _-ERR invalid command _ 1-ERR invalid command 1 -ERR invalid command -----8<-----8<-----8<-----SNIP-----8<-----8<-----8<----- The above output results from the following entry: user user_1[ENTER] So now I know that this is no version issue. Can you tell me something on how I can find the solution for this problem? I don't think its a firewall issue, I disabled my Desktop Firewall. On the server I use shorewall, but of course, port 110 is open and it works disabling AntiVir on the client side. The error also occurs when I disable the Server Firewall as well. The error is reproducible on several PCs (I tried 3 PCs). Have you got any hint? Without solving the problem, I have to switch the pop3 server to another one, because this problem is really a crucial one.The only problem is: I like dovecot. :) Moreover I'd like to keep dovecot updatable. A log line looks like this: pop3-login: Dec 05 22:53:24 Info: Disconnected [::ffff:84.165.54.42] Moreover with the proxy activated, a telnet to port 110 (pop3) is not working properly, the cursor stays right behind "+OK dovecot ready." and as soon as I enter a character, the server rejects this character as an unknown command. As soon as I turn off the Antivir-Proxy the telnet to port 110 runs flawlessly and I can login. Is there any fix for that? Or did I misunderstand something? Lighttpd setup with rails

Hi Everyone- I am trying to setup lighttpd on a CentOS 4.2 box after having problems with getting it to work on Apache. I am hoping some fresh eyes can see any errors below. The log files are useless as they just say server stop and server start. When I create an app in rails I can see the rails welcome screen, but everything else comes up 404. Hmmm I seem to have a catch22 here. I've found the page at http://www.centos.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=118 that discusses installing yum-pluging-fastestmirror I quote: "*How do I get this new system?* This system is now live. If you update your system with the normal *yum update* command you will get the new *centos-yumconf* package." The thing is, yum update fails with a string of [errno 4] (socket time outs) and [errno 12] (mirror url timeouts) Can I get the file some other way? The up2date issue happened because of a bug with handling obsoletes ... which is fixed in an update :P also ... header issues normally mean you need to clean your yum cache .... yum clean cache

Cross Network Based CD/DVD Burning Software

Hey friends, I am using FC3 and Centos 4.0 at my home. I have one CD/DVD burner on Centos4.0 and no CD/DVD burner on FC3 machine. I am looking for a free client & server or cross network CD/DVD burning software something like NeroNet available on Windows. Means on the one workstation(FC3) the client software for CD/DVD burning will be installed, through this client software the data to be burned will be passed to the server software for CD/DVD burning installed on the other workstation(Centos4.0) and then the server software will burn the CD/DVD of that data. the recent gnupg update

Hi gang! I see the gnupg update became available a day or two ago. But every time I run "yum update" it says there's nothing to update. but: rpm -qa | grep -y gnupg reports: gnupg-debuginfo-1.4.2.2-1 gnupg-1.4.2.2-1 so it is installed. OT: profiling user applications

Hi, Is there an easy way to obtain statistics of user applications usage: who invoked what; for how long; what resources were used; etc. I am thinking of some kind of a super-ps that will integrate and summarize the usage profile during a long period of time - not just a snapshot. Background: I have a RH 7.3 machine that serves as the central node for a cluster that runs various scientific user applications: mysql, matlab, and various bioinformatics tools. We are considering upgrading the OS (to centos :-), or embedding it in our institute grid. Having detailed information on the usage profile will help us to decide about the strategy, and to implement once decided.
