Based on that.. they are different architectures.... Is there a new kernel for both architectures? Poll: what features are you lusting for in v4

While we're waiting on the keebler elves to make the new CentOS 4, what feature(s) are you most lusting after in RHEL/CentOS 4? For me: - official Mysql 4!!! (man does this make me happy) - official Subversion ..are my top two, they will make me a happy camper for so many projects. :) Sure sure the 2.6 kernel is nice, but that super-patched 2.4 kernel on v3 seems to work quite well too... -te -- Troy Engel | Systems Engineer Fluid, Inc | http://www.fluid.com

ProFTP -> vsFTP Configuration Options

I am moving from a server from running Red Hat 7.2 (with ProFTP) to Centos 3 (with vsFTP). There is a setting in ProFTP that lets me set the default ftp login directory for a specific user and I would like to do the same with vsFTP. The reason being is I have a 'webadmin' user that I use for uploading web content. I am thinking I could make the home directory of the webadmin /var/www in the /etc/passwd file but I would rather it just be for FTP and leave the login home as /home/webadmin. In ProFTP this was set in /etc/proftpd.conf like so: DefaultRoot / webadmin DefaultChdir /var/www webadmin Does anyone know how I can do that? I would like the settings for the other users to work as they are now. I have been looking at chroot_list_enable, and chroot_list_file files but I don't think that is quite what I am looking for (They are both commented out by default). I may be wrong. Yup, I've already been chastised for this once on the list (did you miss that post?) and I apologized privately via e-mail to the person who pointed out my mistake. I guess that's not enough, so, for you, and everyone else: I'm sorry. It won't happen again. BTW, thanks for the feedback I did get on 9i and 10g installations on CentOS. Are there any Apps 11.5.x lurkers out there, or has nobody actually tried this? I intend to at least attempt it and will post an update (in a _new_ thread) with my findings. upgrade FC3 -> CentOS-4.0-Beta

I have two boxes I want to upgrade hedwig is in a DC in Texas so I have no physical access. installed RHEL-3.1 adhoc upgrades with WBEL-3.1 packages (before I discovered yum and apt-rpm) dist upgrade to FC2 using apt-rpm rock-sand is a local development box installed FC3 on one partition installed FC2 on one partition I want to get both machines running CentOS 4.0 rock-sand is my practice machine, so I want to pretend I don't have physical access. In CentOS-3.4-Server.iso there is a pkgorder.txt with a list of the packages in (I assume) the order they should be upgraded. But there is no such file in the CentOS-4.0 distribution. Should I just use the same order but with the new version numbers? What issuses has anyone had with the move to udev?

Funny, I was _just_ working on this. There are two issues that I encountered, the first being the one above and Google helped to resolve both. To correct your immediate issue, add default_tkt_enctypes = des-cbc-crc des-cbc-md5 default_tgs_enctypes = des-cbc-crc to the [libdefaults] section of /etc/krb5.conf Additionally, to get ssh access working I needed to disable the use of privileged separation for sshd. The problem in my case is that pam_mkhomedir.so needs root access to create the home directories if they don't exist. To squelch the questions (related to the changing content on www.centos.org) I decided this needs to be published. The CentOS Team has been contacted by representatives of Red Hat's hired legal team regarding the use of Red Hat Trademarks on www.centos.org. (Full Email follows.) While the CentOS team feels we are using Red Hat's marks in a fair and legal manner, we have no choice but to eliminate the majority of the Red Hat marks that are being used on www.centos.org. So over the next few days, we will be cleansing the CentOS website of Red Hat marks and/or possible marks. If you encounter any errors please take a moment to point then out via a comment here or catch donavan in #centos-web on irc.freenode.net. At this point and going forward the CentOS project is not in any jeopardy. We have a strong group of committed developers and are growing like crazy.
