The following errata for CentOS-2 have been built and uploaded the the centos mirror: RHSA-2004:440-01 An updated lha package fixes security vulnerability Files available: lha-1.00-17.3.i386.rpm More details are available from the RedHat web site at https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rh21as-errata.html The easy way to make sure you are up to date with all the latest patches is to run: # yum update -- John Newbigin - Computer Systems Officer School of Information Technology Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, Australia http://www.it.swin.edu.au/staff/jnewbigin

Hello list. Anyone have a php rpm with snmp enabled or a php-nsmp rpm? I need to build some php pages and would like to use the snmp function that are built in. If there is another way to enable it by not using one of these rpm's that would be great too. TIA Dan

OT: firewalls

What is everyone using for a firewall? I'm currently using www.astaro.com but their recent releases have soured me on ASL as a practical solution on my hardware (1.2MHz Athlon, 30G, and 256M). I only have 4 computers going through the firewall wall but it's consistently at 50% cpu load. There is very little network traffic (<10k bits per second on the wan connection, < 40k bits per second between other internal lans (I have 4 internal lans and a wan)) Basically I'm using it for: packet filtering, masq, port forwarding, IDS, dns proxy (only if my internal DNS servers have failed) smtp proxy smtp virus protection smtp spam protection http proxy (caching) http virus protection http url monitoring (via Cobain) the firewall also monitors a bunch of statistics, etc. I'm looking for something that is installed, configured and runs. I don't want to be tweaking this parameter of postfix, that parameter of the smtp virus protection, etc. I want something that just works that I don't need to play with except for new rules, etc. I'll pay a reasonable price for a package that I can test to verify suitable performance (I'm not a commercial operation, this is just for my toys). At the moment, I'm looking at Gibraltar. But the community seems small. I haven't downloaded it yet but I'm considering it an option for this round of firewall evaluation. Any other suggestions for inclusion? BTW, anything like smoothwall that allows wide open outbound connections and doesn't support a box with 5 network cards off the CD is not a viable candidate. Greg, Does this change effect me? My (default) yum.cong files point to mirror.centos.org. Do I need to point at different mirrors? At about midnight Sunday night your time, I was experimenting with migrating RedHat 9 to CentOS-3. When I tried yum check-update, I got an error message that http://mirror.centos.org could not be found. BTW, twice I tried to send this message to caos-mirror(a)casosity.org like you asked, and twice it came back immediately as undeliverable. (I copied and pasted the address.) Rick

mirror.caosity.org change...

sorry for the massive cross-post, but I wanted to make sure that I get everyone that needs to know this. Mirror.caosity.org is having problems keeping up with all of the mirrors. Rsync is a memory hog when dealing with large repositories, and mirror just can't handle it. I am migrating mirror.caosity.org to a new host which should be able to handle the load better. Also, I will be limiting the IP's that can rsync directly to mirror. Only the public mirrors will be allowed to connect directly to mirror.caosity.org via rsync. Expect this migration to happen in the next several days, and please let me and the caos-mirror list know if there are any problems.
