[CentOS-devel] Updated kernel package fixes security vulnerabilities.

There is an updated kernel for CentOS-3.1 https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2004-183.html refers. Updated files are :- all in updates/i386/RPMS/ kernel-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.athlon.rpm kernel-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm kernel-BOOT-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i386.rpm kernel-doc-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i386.rpm kernel-hugemem-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm kernel-hugemem-unsupported-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm kernel-smp-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.athlon.rpm kernel-smp-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm kernel-smp-unsupported-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.athlon.rpm kernel-smp-unsupported-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm kernel-source-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i386.rpm kernel-unsupported-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.athlon.rpm kernel-unsupported-2.4.21-9.0.3.EL.c0.i686.rpm These are available at http://mirror.centos.org/3.1/ and should be on all mirrors within a few hours. To update to the latest version 'yum update kernel' should be sufficient. In addition CentOS now has a set of i586 rpms in the new 'contrib directory' To access contrib add the following stanza to yum.conf :- [contrib] name=CentOS-$releasever - Contrib baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/contrib/$basearch/ gpgcheck=0 Note that [contrib] rpms are provided by third parties and not necessarily tested by cAos/CentOS developers. They are not signed and thus gpgcheck is 0 for the stanza. Lance

Fonts

Hello all, I have just installed Centos 3 and I can't help notices that the fonts are blurry. I have been using RH9 and then Fedora and the fonts there are fine, But Whitebox and Centos seem to be blurie. Can anyone tell if Cents has the Byte-code interpreter enabled in Freetype? limitations?

Hi, The centos.org home page says CentOS-3 is based on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 ES. Would I be able to run >2 processors and >8GB memory on CentOS-3 (what RHEL _AS_ supports), or am I limited to what RHEL ES supports? yum fails on IBMJava2-JRE

My yum update for CentOS-2 started to fail a while ago. http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/updates/headers/header.info mentions this line: 1:IBMJava2-JRE-1.3.1-10.i386=i386/IBMJava2-JRE-1.3.1-10.i386.rpm But that file doesn't seem to exist anywhere. So I end up with this error and it exits. getting /var/cache/yum/update/headers/IBMJava2-JRE-1-1.3.1-10.i386.hdr Error getting file http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/updates//headers/IBMJava2-JRE-1-1.3.1-10.i 386.hdr [Errno 6] ERROR: Url Return no Content-Length - something is wrong Please help me understand how I can fix this. Or if it's just a bad header.info on the mirrors? Thanks! -- Josh Hildebrand
