Arm Development Using QEMU

Hi Marcin & Johnny, Thanks for the reply. My requirement is to setup a VM with aarch64(64 bit arm architecture) on x86_64 host. I have tried installing through virt-manager but i’m getting crash when starting the VM. I have attached the error below. Hi All, I’m a newbie to arm architecture. I want to setup a development VM with ARMv8 board using QEMU/KVM on CentOS based host. Is there any documentation available to try out? Or is there any other easy way to achieve this as i need to have a Development setup for CentOS? Please suggest me if any other better way to achieve this. Thanks, Karthi

install via vnc

yesterday I did a gnome image install. I have a monitor/keybd/mouse that I connected, as you MUST go through the GUI setup before the serial console gets to the login prompt, it seems. I then proceeded to switch to multi-user, install vncserver and get vnc client access going. It would be nice if an option for headless install would support the remote vnc access that I once, a long time ago, used for an install. What would it take to have this as an installation option?

Testing epel packages

Hi, In reaction on the request for testing armhfp epel packages in the blog post of Pablo i'd like to know how/where feedback/results can be reported. We (nethserver-arm) use about 100 packages mirrored from epel-pass-1 repository for quite some time without issues. Most of them are the usual suspects and noarch, nevertheless nice to keep track of the packages known to be working. BTW: We also make use of the PHP72 community effort to run nextcloud. Opt-in was no option therefore use the in /opt SCL solution. Thank you all for your work and persistence

Trying to boot Centos 1804 on Orange Pi Zero

Hello - I'm just getting started in the work of Arm based boards. I'd like to use CentOS on my Orange Pi Zero. I've followed the instructions here: https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/AltArch/armhfp but the system does not appear boot - no red LED, no ethernet activity. It does when I use one of the Orange Pi provided Ubuntu images. I'm using the /usr/share/uboot/orangepi_zero/u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin uboot image, and CentOS-Userland-7-armv7hl-generic-Minimal-1804-sda.raw.xz centos image. It makes some adjustments to how we handle a few things, in particular the Raspberry Pi firmware: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2018-56bc88dfb2 I don't expect anyone to see anything issues in particular especially for the vast majority of people that just use a SD card or HDD with their ARM device but there might be some corner cases for people with slightly more esoteric setups when they upgrade. If anyone sees any issues please open a bug [1] or reply to this or reach out on #fedora-arm. The change has been in rawhide for a little while and I've not seen any fall out there. Also the new U-Boot will have some slight improvements for those running AllWinner 64 bit devices as we've moved to the upstream ARM trusted firmware. It's just a snapshot at the moment but the previous fork was quite old and had it's issues on certain devices so I expect this to be an overall win for people there, but again I can't test everything so if anyone sees issues please reach out. All please add karma to the above update when you do test it. People can update U-Boot on a running system with the update-uboot command with similar syntax to arm-image-installer. Cubieboard5 performance

has anyone here tried out the octa-core Cubieboard5? Does Centos work with all those cores for better multitasking than the duo-core A20 boards? One of my Cubieboard2 is dying and I CAN replace it with one of my test boards. But my mail server does struggle with only 2 cores for all the virus scanning. If I had more cores, I could lift the attachment limit, perhaps. I just saw a deal on the Cubieboard5, cheaper than the Cubietruck. Or info on any other quad board. thanks
