Hi all,
Simple question, is anyone have validated the kernel 4.4.26, on armv7hl repo, on bananapi ?
Actually my bananapi is running fine on 4.2.3-200, and the new kernel have been installed, but, the pi is actually far away, and I need to be sure it will reboot :D :D
Thanks

I haven't, as I only have the following boards to test against : - cubietruck - rpi2 - rpi3
But iirc someone confirmed it, including Karanbir, which has such bananapi at home ..
Hi
I've installed it and rebooted, even with modifying myself the /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file to add the new kernel and change the default kernel (it wasn't by the package), it's still booting 4.2.
Need to check more... It's only this file to modify?

Hi,
Simple question, is anyone have validated the kernel 4.4.26, on armv7hl repo, on bananapi ?
I have it running on my bananapi. However, my first try to update from 4.2.3-200 to 4.4.26-201 failed, because /boot was running out of space. The way the system extends its partitions after installation leaves /boot to small to handle the kernel update process. I modified the standard layout by increasing the size of /boot BEFORE attempting to update to 4.4.26-201 and the update worked like a charm.
best regards --- Michael Schumacher
Hi
I did the increase of /boot too. Do you have the 4.4.12 kernel too? It was installed as a dependancy for 4.4.26.
Can you share your /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file?
It seems it's not all correctly updated on my side :s
Thanks

One thing I like with these tiny machines is that you can easily make a snapshot by simply copying the content of the SD-card to a second machine. Pretty simple and foolproof if something goes wrong :-)

Hello
Thanks.
I don't know why but on my side the 4.4.12 was installed by 4.4.26. Will try to remove it after booting on 4.4.26.
The only repo I got with standard repos is my own, but is not enabled by default.
I have updated my extlinux.conf and it's working. Before I had added the new kernel in the configuration, but even modifying the "menu autoboot centos" to point to the newer kernel it was'nt working.
When I try to remove the 4.4.12 Kernel :

One thing I like with these tiny machines is that you can easily make a snapshot by simply copying the content of the SD-card to a second machine. Pretty simple and foolproof if something goes wrong :-)
It seems it's not all correctly updated on my side :s

Nicolas, just wondering. Is it correct that you already updated your PI and now you are wondering if your updated software will reboot once you stop the running system?
So then you have no option to remove the update and you have no option to make a backup before updating?
If that is the case your choice is simple: reboot now or reboot later :-)
good luck... Michael
And if I want to remove 4.2 too :)

One thing I like with these tiny machines is that you can easily make a snapshot by simply copying the content of the SD-card to a second machine. Pretty simple and foolproof if something goes wrong :-)
It seems it's not all correctly updated on my side :s
Are you using the same repos? See below:
---8<--- grep enabled /etc/yum.repos.d/* /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo:enabled=1 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo:enabled=1 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo:enabled=1 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-CR.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Debuginfo.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Sources.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Sources.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Sources.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Sources.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Testing.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Testing.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo:enabled=0 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-armhfp-kernel.repo:enabled=1 /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-fasttrack.repo:enabled=0 ---8<---

well, in this case, I would make a complete (dd) backup of the SD-card and just remove the old files along with their references in the corresponding files in /boot. If this won't work, you can always use your backup.
As they say "Damn the torpedos! Full speed ahead!" :-)

:-D Thanks Michael.
Actually I think I have to rollback, for the first time for weeks it has frozen. The only change is the 4.4 running kernel. Think I have to go back to 4.2.
