Future of the neptune image

Good Morning Everyone, When we started this SIG we looked at ways to demonstrate autosd and what it could look like in an automotive context. One application we quickly ran into was the neptune application developed by Qt as an example automotive application showing a dashboard, speedometer and a few other elements. This served us well originally, but truth be told, we have not really done anything with this image for a while. Today neptune no longer starts when building the image and this ends up looking weird: we have this demo image that is practically not maintained (because it doesn't seem to be useful to us anymore) and that people may try but will be disappointed with since it doesn't work. So the question becomes: what do we want to do with that sample image? If there is still interest in it, let's fix it and check it regularly to make sure it remains working (e.g.: when neptune needs a rebuild because a newer Qt landed). If that image has served us well and is no longer of interest to us. I would like to propose that we retire it and wish it a well and happy retirement (based on git rm). Request for qbootctl in Automotive SIG RPM repository - qbootctl

AutoSD SOAFEE and Eclipse SDV images

Hello all, I would like to announce that files from both SOAFEE and Eclipse SDV images have been moved from the sample-images repository[1] to their own dedicated ones[2][3] (files have yet to be removed from the sample-images repository). Those images are not just "sample mpp yaml files" but specialized AutoSD images of other upstream reference implementations (such as SOAFEE); this move allows us to both work and integrate with other upstream communities tools/systems such as SOAFEE's Integration Lab. Web server migration

Hi folks, I am part of the team which has been maintaining the web server hosting the AutoSD repositories [1]. This web server was a simple aws ec2 vm that mounted an s3 bucket using goofys and served with apache2. Over time we have seen issues with the mounts failing sporadically or the server needing maintenance and have decided to improve the situation there. We now plan to migrate the server off the ec2 VM and into an OpenShift cluster available for us. We've prepared a simpler solution where the s3 bucket is synced to the server regularly and this should ease the issues we see with the mounts failing sometimes. We're currently running a preview available here [1] and will monitor it for a few days to check its stability. Feel free to provide comments if you have any feedback/questions. I'll notify the mailing list again when we plan to migrate but apart from a short downtime it should be transparent to consumers of these repositories. CentOS Automotive SIG: Update & happy holidays

As December is upon us for the 2nd time in this SIG's history, we want to take a bit of time to reflect on the amazing work done over the past year, and to give a glimpse of what we will be working on in 2023. This year, the Automotive SIG celebrated its first anniversary. We now have a robust repository housed within the CentOS domain, open to contributions by the public - and indeed we had our first contributor from outside Red Hat in October (thanks CJ!), which is a great example of the value we hope we are bringing to automotive Linux development. In addition to the repositories, we have a strong nightly build structure providing a continuous stream of images that are easy to download and get running via QEMU or on a Raspberry Pi 4. The image uses Stream 9 components with a customized (real time) kernel, a good example of CentOS Stream based development, and a fun and interesting project. Since the anniversary, we have also implemented support for the growing SOAFEE specification, including a SOAFEE compatible image and (now? soon?) support for the Autoware Open AD Kit through its SOAFEE blueprint, released in November. In the upcoming year, we will continue to build software as well as relationships with SOAFEE, Eclipse SDV, and many other open SDV-oriented communities. We have also fielded interest about new hardware, and in the first part of next year we will be developing guidelines around porting and support - how to get AutoSD running, and how to bring that support into our CI/CD system. Our next meeting is set for January 4 at 7am PST / 4pm CET. We hope you will join us to talk about plans for the next year and whatever is on your mind regarding software-defined vehicles.
