strict memory

Hello All: Running 5.2 at our university. We have several student's processes that take up too much memory. Our system have 64G of RAM and some processes take close to 32-48G of RAM. This is causing many problems for others. I was wondering if there is a way to restrict memory usage per process? If the process goes over 32G simply kill it. Any thoughts or ideas? TIA

Creating a controlled local repo

Hi all, I've been thinking about creating a local repo for our to-be CentOS-park (we're currently in the process of migrating from RHEL3 to CentOS5). As we need to control all updates being applied (think WUS, Windows Update Server) because of special software being run on servers and clients, we must check first that our molecular modeling software doesn't bite the grass should eg X, the kernel (and breaking the proprietary nvidia gfx-drivers in the process) etc be updated in a "non-approved" way. Therefore I've planned to create a local repo on one of our servers, share /var/cache/yum, set keepcache to 1 on that server and have it reposync periodically (like once a week) with CentOS Base, Extras, rpmforge and so on. On the clients I'd disable all standard repos, and only have the clients yum update from the aforementioned local repo server. Would this work? Or is there a cleaner/nicer/better/simpler way to do this? Gotchas' maybe? Any feedback is appreciated. KDE Versions in CentOS ?

HI LIst; What version of KDE is included in the latest version of CentOS ? Also, is there a way to get KDE4 in CentOS ? If so, Can I have both KDE3.x and KDE4 installed and switch back and forth between the 2 versions if needed ? Thanks in advance... /Kevin

DHCP static hosts and subnet configuration

Hi all. I have set up a DHCP server with multiple subnet configurations (let's say subnet A and B). Within that I have declared pools and static hosts addresses. Now, if I have set up a static host entry (with fixed-address) in Subnet B for a specific machine and try to connect to Subnet A with that NIC (where it should obtain an address from the range), this does not work unless I add a static host entry for that machine to the Subnet A declaration, too. I even have to assign a fixed-address, there. I just want the NIC to clain it's address from the range on Subnet A and to assign a fixed address on Subnet B. Best Regards Marcus

looking for stunnel configuration file for /etc/xinetd.d/
