CBS tags hierarchy

Hi, following Cloud SIG example[1] I would like to start defining the CBS tags hierarchy for Virt SIG. For opening the discussion I suggest: - virt${release}-common : packages not related to xen or kvm, used by at least 2 projects - virt${release}-xen : xen hypervisor related packages - virt${release}-kvm : kvm hypervisor related packages (like qemu-kvm-ev) - virt${release}-ovirt : ovirt packages and dependencies, not required by other projects - virt${release}-docker : docker packages and dependencies, not required by other projects Comments are welcome! xapi on CentOS 6

Hi, I am a masters student at IIIT Hyderabad. I have applied for gsoc 2015, for xen in a box proposal. As a part of my proposal,I want to deliver xapi repo which can be used to build a custom installer ISO to install CentOS 6 + xen + xapi. Here is my full proposal http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/proposal/public/google/gsoc2015/gautam_m… About building xapi packages for CentOS; I was able to build all xenserver packages with xenserver build root. (https://github.com/xenserver/buildroot) on CentOS 6.6 . This buildroot uses Xen4CentOS repo for xen packages, but it uses custom repo for Ocaml(4.01). The Base repo for CentOS 6.6 have ocaml 3.11. This buildroot required Ocaml 4.x. The gsoc would start in May end, if Ocaml 4.x packages are ready by then, Those could be used to build xapi. Is there any plan to have xapi as part of virt SIG. Is there any time-line for having ocaml 4.x packages in CentOS offical repo. Best regards, Gautam Malu

Centos 7 AMI building scripts

Hello all, I tried to find the scripts that build the official CentOS 7 AMI images, but I cannot find them. Can somebody point me to a source repository for them ? I am trying to build my own CentOS AMIs and AMI building is turning out to be a dark art, and any pointers, or working source code would be really useful. Thank you, Andrei Dragomir. -- /A

Xen in a Box Proposal

Hi everyone, I am a masters student at IIIT- Hyderabad, India. I have submitted my GSOC proposal for Xen in a Box. I would be great to have some suggestions especially about the porting of xapi on CentOS Abstract: My project goal is to deliver set of scripts preferrably in bash, along with all necessay packages to convert standared installers ISOs into customized ISOs which install CentOS 6 + xen + libvirt + 2 pv VMs running + network configuration. I also plan to deliver xapi rpms which can be used to build a custom installer ISO to install CentOS 6 + xen + xapi. Thanks Jon, it worked, I was able to build all the packages for xenserver on CentOS 6.6 final version. Here is the package list: https://gist.github.com/gautammaloo/7616cccbe8f5c85c196e I was wondering what packages would be necessary to use Xen with xapi, I already have xen with xl installed. Could we have a package like http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/xcp-xe with which we can have xenserver running on CentOS, just by switching toolstack from xl to xapi. virt-manager broken ?

Hello, with the last update for virt-manager I have a Problem with my CPU (XEON- SandyBridge) I have to disable the CPU Flag "invts", afterward I can install a KVM Guest! Now with the coming upgrade to centos 7.1 in the virt-manager the CPU Flag config is missing and I can't install a KVM Guest anymore :-(. libvirt errors after applying RPMS from 2015:X002

Thanks for the info. I am trying to connect to the Xen hypervisor, via a localhost connection defined in the virt-manager configuration. here is the detail provided in the error dialog: ————————— Unable to open a connection to the Xen hypervisor/daemon. Verify that: - A Xen host kernel was booted - The Xen service has been started internal error: DBus support not compiled into this binary Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/connection.py", line 1168, in _open_thread self.vmm = self._try_open() File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/connection.py", line 1152, in _try_open flags) File "/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/libvirt.py", line 105, in openAuth if ret is None:raise libvirtError('virConnectOpenAuth() failed') libvirtError: internal error: DBus support not compiled into this binary —————————— The hypervisor and VM’s work.
