Beta CentOS 7 Xen packages available

At long last, I'd like to announce beta packages for CentOS 7, available from the community build system. Start by installing the centos-release-xen: rpm -ivh http://cbs.centos.org/repos/virt7-xen-44-testing/x86_64/os/Packages/centos-… This will set up yum repositories for both the eventual release repositories (enabled by default), and the community build system repositories (disabled by default). At the moment, all packages will be stored in the virt-xen-44-testing repository. You can either enable this by default by editing /etc/yum.repos.d/VirtSIG-Xen.repo, or by adding "--enablerepo=virt-xen-44-testing". If you want, you can edit defaults /etc/sysconfig/xen-kernel Next, run 'yum update' to get the new kernel: yum --enablerepo=virt-xen-44-testing update kernel Now install xen: yum --enablerepo=virt-xen-44-testing install xen This should grab both xen and the updated kernel package. It should also automatically: * Add default commandline parameters for Xen and Linux when booting under Xen * Arrange for xen to come up first in the grub * Set the default boot entry to Xen. That's it! Reboot and you should be good to go. Libvirt packages aren't available yet but should be on the way soon (I'll announce them here.) Libvirt 1.2.15 and Kernel 3.18.12 RPMs pushed to the Xen4

I have signed and pushed the libvirt-1.2.15-3 and kenel-3.18.12-11 RPMs into the xen4 repository for CentOS-6.6. These have been in virt6-testing for a few months now with no negative reports. They should be available on mirror.centos.org in 30 or so minutes and externally as those mirrors update themselves against mirror. Thanks, Johnny Hughes

Windows 10 tech preview build 10130

Hi Everyone, Has anyone managed to install Windows 10 tech preview build 10130 as a KVM on a CentOS 6 host? I'm having problems that I haven't been able to get past. I can get the CD to boot and the install process to begin, but Windows keeps complaining about missing drivers. I've unsuccessfully tried the VirtIO ISOs from the Fedora project. The images I tried were: virtio-win-0.1-100.iso virtio-win-0.1.105.iso virtio-win-0.1.96.iso I have two IDE CD-ROMs attached which appears to be working fine (otherwise the installer wouldn't start and I wouldn't be able to traverse the VirtIO ISO). The NIC was an e1000, but I changed it to rtl8139. I've changed the HD from IDE, to Virtio iscsi to Virtio disk and none of that has seemed to help. I'd appreciate some pointers/tips. RHEL/CentOS 7.x KVM kernel instability & unreliability

Hello, I'm managing smaller private virtualization infrastructure, currently based on CentOS 7.x. In the past we were running mostly on Debian 7 (kernel 3.2.x) and CentOS 6.x without problems. After we have upgraded to CentOS 7.x, I have experienced occasional physical host crashes when I did e.g. suspend or resume more virtual machines OR random virtual machine checkpoint was invalid and VM could not be resumed. I did few intesive tests on same hardware with: - CentOS 6.6 ... worked fine - CentOS 7.1 with 1. CentOS distribution kernel ... failed 2. Binary RHEL 7.1 distr. kernel ... failed 3. vanilla 3.10.80 kernel ... failed (plus various firmware releases and BIOS configurations) So far I could reliably run only CentOS 7.x with latest 4.0.5 kernel from ElRepo. 7.x kernel is based on 3.10.x, which failed for me as well. So I think there was some bug in KVM, which led to memory corruption. The result was either kernel oops or broken checkpoint and kernel oops occured later. I have opened bug on Red Hat https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1231964 but since it's a private bug, I have created duplicate bug on CentOS http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=8949 There is described how to reproduce the problem including stress test script. Kvm intel dual gigabit ethernet nic pass thru.

Hello I am having a weird issue with a PCI-X Intel dual gigabit ethernet nic. While I am partially successful in pass thru with kvm, I have a weird issue with my pfsense freebsd vm. It see the two nics but gives them the same Mac address. I'm not sure if this is a pfsense bug or what. The nic works for everything but this Mac address issue. Long story short, I guess what I'm asking is there any options I should use when passing thru dual and quad Intel ethernet adapter right now I am using hostpci0: 1:00.0, driver=vfio Thanks Rafeal

CentOS 6 domU console issue

Howdy, I'm having an issue with the console for CentOS 6 domUs. When I boot the domU I can see the console just fine. After grub has made its selection I get these errors: xenconsole: Could not open tty `': No such file or directory libxl: error: libxl_exec.c:118:libxl_report_child_exitstatus: console child [0] exited with error status 2 After that the boot process continues fine and I'm able to sign into the console of the domU instance. However, when I close the console my command prompt doesn't work properly anymore, keypresses aren't printed to the screen. This problem is nearly identical to this issue: http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2014-01/msg02259.html However, for my situation xenconsoled is running. Custom installer ISO for C7+xen

Hi, I have made a installer script which builds a custom c7 installer iso, which delivers xen 4.4 stack over minimal c7 installation. I have already tested it out c7 and c6.6 but it should work with any fedora installation also. https://github.com/gautamMalu/centos-xen It uses virt7-xen-44-testing repo (http://goo.gl/b2w53S) so you will need access to internet during installation. Hi, today oVirt 3.5.3 has been released[1]. VDSM 4.16.20 and its dependencies has been tagged as release as well within the Virt SIG build repositories for CentOS Linux 7. XSAs 134, 135, and 136

Just to let people know what's going on: The embargo for XSA-135 lifted today at 1400 UTC. The embargoes for XSAs 134 and 136 lift tomorrow at 1200 UTC. XSA-135 only affects guests which have been assigned a PCNET emulated NIC, which is not the default; as such, it doesn't seem terribly urgent to push the fix today. So rather than push one fix today and another tomorrow, our plan is just to do a single update with all the XSAs tomorrow once the embago lifts. -George

I pushed a draft of a new centos-release-xen rpm repo here: https://github.com/gwd/centos-release-xen The source of this works for both C6 and C7. There's already a C7 package in virt7-xen-44-candidate, and there should be a C6 build in virt6-testing soon. This is to Johnny in particular, but any feedback is welcome. -George

Hello, Have Centos a Repository with corrected or newer Packages for KVM. On my brand new System ;-), but also with my older System. Hello, CentOS 7(1) I like to setup a new Server with SR-IOV for Networking.. I have a I350 Network Card on Board. But on my System this is, I mean, not correct working ? When I like to have Virtual Network Cards I have to unload / reload the "igb" driver? afterward I have my virtual Network Cards. Have any a way, to have the virtual Network Cards on boot time? By default, /var/lib/xenstored is mounted tmpfs in centos 5 but this doesn't appear to be true for Xen4CentOS. This can cause performance issues as mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446089 I'm not sure if this should be part of xencommons, but if not, adding a tmpfs mount should probably be documented on the quick start wiki page.
