shut down a Centos 6 guest / libvirt / ACPI

Eucalyptus 2.0.3 on CentOS - VM auto fail-over?

Hi all. I am currently testing Eucalyptus. I have two servers, one of them has CLC, Walrus, CC and NC, the second only NC. When I make a new Xen VM (from kernel, initrd, filesystem image) then it is placed on one of the nodes with NC. I would like to test VM fail-over. When on one node the VM is not running good it should be transferred to the second node as I think. Do I need EBS for that? How should eucalyptus be configured? Any howtos? I have found only basic ones with installation and starting of VM instances. Best regards, Rafal Radecki.

bridging to a bond in KVM

Display and Video modes - more info

Hi all, I've searched around and couldn't really find much on the subject. I am playing around with various video modes (spice, vga, etc...) while keeping the display mode to spice. Wondering why my guests defaulted to Cirrus 9MB as I don;t have that actual video adapter in my machine. And what the explanations are between video modes? I noticed vmvga doesn't work for me but rather then trial and error, it would be nice to read some docs on the subject. Thanks in advance. - aurf

virtio drivers for Centos 5.8

Hi, So I updated my guest from 5.1 to 5.8 via a complete yum update, many many packages BTW. I shutdown the guest, change its "Disk bus" from IDE to Virtio and then upon boot, I get kernel panics as no disk can be found. I do get the splash screen at first however. My guest has /dev/hda, should I change its fstab to reflect /dev/vda instead? Thans in advance, - aurf

Hi all, Does any one know of a how to for creating raid 1 + LVMs during install for Centos 6? Do I create the physical LVM first and then raid or vise versa? Its seems diff then doing it for Centos 5. - aurf

proper way to snapshot

Hi, While there are a few howtos floating around, what is the standard way to snapshot guests? I went through and converted from raw to pre allocated meta data qcow2 images for this purpose. Some howtos suggest to do an xml snapshot file as so; <domainsnapshot> <name>UbuntuServer_10.10-16032011</name> <description>Snapshot of OS install and updates</description> </domainsnapshot> And then to run as so; virsh snapshot-create UbuntuServer_10.10 UbuntuServer_10.10-ss.xml Seems a bit over kill. I was thinking more along the lines of this; qemu-img snapshot -c $date $filename qemu-img convert -f qcow2 -O qcow2 -s $date $filename $filename-$date Or something like this.Anyways, hoping to see how you all are doing this for best practice sort of thing. - aurf

Guests pausing suddenly

We have a CentOS 6.2 server with KVM. That server hosts 2 virtual machines, both with Centos 6.2, too. Regularly, one or both of the virtual machines pass to state "pause" without apparent reason. On resume, I do get have messages, like the following in /var/log/messages. Mac virtualization over KVM

Hi all, Has anyone succeeded on running this Mac from iATKOS http://goo.gl/AosaB over KVM? Would some have a domain config file to help? I see that for openSuse kernels it seems to work: http://goo.gl/X11MJ The ressource it a bit outdated, might be innacurate today. Would you know a ressource teaching how to? Thank you. -- RMA.
