centos4 install freezing on Compaq Workstation ap250

Hello, I'm trying to install Centos4 on a Compaq Professional Workstation AP250. I'm doing this via serial terminal as this box does not have a monitor and install is getting to the running of /sbin/loader then it freezes. I've tried linux text console=ttyS0 and added combinations of: nousb noathlon apm=off acpi=off nothing is working. Some urgency! Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dave.

CentOS 4.3 Jigdo

I've made rudimentary jigdo files available at: http://mirror.tcs.ii.uj.edu.pl/jigdo/ i386: bin1of4 bin2of4 bin3of4 bin4of4 CDs binDVD srcDVD x86_64: binDVD Usage requires replacing the [Servers] parts inside the jigdo files with an appropriate mirror (file:/, http://, ftp://) This should allow recreation of the above mentioned files from any complete set of their contents (a mirror or DVD from CDs or vice versa). (jigdo is available from dag/dries/rpmforge repo). Cheers, MaZe.

httpd not starting after 4.3 update

Is there someway to tell what httpd doesnt like? When I run httpd with options to check config files and things like that it runs an prints a couple lines and prints status OK. Is the unsupported kernel considered stable-ish?

I have a need to use the unsupported kernel for one feature only (AFP/Appletalk support). Never having had to use it before, I'm unsure of what's all in it other than reading it's config file. From those that do use it -- is it considered stable enough to use in lightweight production? I'm debating the use of it versus wasting my time rebuilding the normal kernel with AFP enabled. Seeing as how this is an underpowered machine (Duron 900/512mb), using a prebuilt would be nice. -te ps: why oh why did RH decide to disable this? a simple upgrade of a RH9 machine now turns ugly. :-/ Do they think nobody uses Appletalk anymore? evolution can't send/receive

on one of my boxes...all at once evolution can't pop the server..can't send or anything... any suggestions? thx John Rose ps...I have not upgraded to 4.3 so this is surely not an issue there

module kernel for adaptec 2110s in CenOS 4.2

Hi. I've used ghost for change the ide disk for an array of scsi in raid using an adaptec controller 2110s. Now when I boot it didn't boot correctly. Looking for in Internet (http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_46_4969.shtm) I guest that I have to rebuild the initial ramdisk to contain the proper kernel modules for the adaptec controller. But what is the kernel module for 2110s in kernel 2.6.x? I also have to adding a line in /etc/modprobe.conf, but I don't know the format for that. Thanks in advance. Iago.

Transferring user quotas?

Is there a way of transferring user quotas from one machine to another? Where does the quota get stored? Non of the scarce documentation for the quota commands tells this. Apparently it can't be in the aquota.* files since I can repquota without them. Or does it get saved in some humanly unreadable filesystem information?
