cat cron jobs into crontab

Hi, What's the best/safest way to "cat" the following job into crontab? */3 * * * * /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_megaraid_passive.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 I am used to doing this manually via crontab -e, but now I simply have too many centos servers to build in a given week (get to toss another 120K at some more 2U chenbro/tyan/amd64's -w000ooo). -karlski

centos 5 beta and xen

Hey I was wanting to play with xen on beta 5. I have the beta 5 installed in my turion laptop. Went smooth... (4.4 would not install) Anyway anyone know were a starting point with xen might be? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS5 beta installed

I have just successfully installed CentOS5 beta from CDs. No major issues so far, but it is still too fresh to say anything. The machine I used is peculiar. By peculiar I mean it won't boot if I use grub (this is a long story by itself). So, I manually installed lilo to boot the system. The only problem is that I could not use kdump. It produced an error saying "No bootloader config file found". Since lilo is not supported by default, I would not call it a bug. But it will be great if I can monitor the system with kdump. Akemi

Oracle on NetApp

Hello, Anyone using or tested Oracle (OLTP load) on NetApp? Connected via Fibre Channel not NFS. Performance is good or should we better stay with "classic" SAN storage like HP EVA or similar boxes from EMC or Hitachi? In EMC test papers NetApp does not look good. In NetApp papers - vice versa. :) So I'm somewhat confused. I remember someone in this list saying that NetApp for databases gives poor performance. But I cannot find that post now. Setting up virtual http pages

Disclaimer: I may need help in asking the question properly! Currently, my http root is /home/httpd/, so http://209.204.172.137/ takes you there. Is it possible to assign a specific page for a user? Lets say I have a user, "smith", and his directory is /home/smith/. Could "smith" have a root page, /home/smith/www/? With this, "smith" could ftp his html to his own directory. How do tzdata changes get made?

Hi All, I guess this is a political question rather than technical. New Zealand is probably extending daylight saving time with a bill currently being drafted. It will (most likely) change the end data of dst by pushing it out ~3 weeks. My question; AFAIK CentOS/whitebox/et. al. should not make any changes to tzdata - it is an upstream issue, but how do we ensure that 'upstream' find out about things like this? Regards, MrKiwi.

Error on starting the apache Server

I am using Centos 4.3 i386 and I installed the apache 2.0.59 php 5.1.6 and mysql 5.0.27 rpms from the centosplus repositories. I have two problems the first is: On starting the apache server I get the following error: [root@localhost linux 07-02-2007]# /usr/sbin/httpd Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/auth_mysql.conf: Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_auth_mysql.so into server: libmysqlclient.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So I commented out line 6 and it runs fine, but I think I should correct the error. Anyone has ideas of how to correct this. The Second problem is on running phpinfo i've noticed that mysql is not supported how can I get mysql support to work.

components for OpenPBX install

I have found most of these in our standard Centos repos ( snarfed spanDSP from trixbox repo). But the following I have not figured out: * linux headers for your kernel is this glibc-kernheaders? * Libssl-dev is this openssl-devel? What is "Sox and associated libraries (ogg vorbis etc.) " I see sox and sox-devel And I know I can get zaptel from Trixbox, if needed. With these last items, I will be ready to actually install OpenPBX on this system. And hopefully it will not blow up in my face!

Which ftp is better? vsftp or wuftp or proftp

Hi, I want to setup a ftp Server on CentOS 4.4. I will have to choose which ftp is IDLE among 3 ftp pkgs that are vsftp,wuftp or proftp? What do you recommend? -- Thank you Indunil Jayasooriya
