virtual host on latest centos 4.4

Good morning All, I have a slight issue with apache virtual hosts not working on my newly installed CentOS (4.4). I am very new to Linux, however I have experience with apache etc on 'w1nd0ws'. I've been round and round in the apache conf file and to no avail. Basically if I setup a virtual host the default then looks at it. Also, if I setup multiple virtual hosts they all look at the first virtual host. I'm running the machine inside my local network as a staging server for web design. I then set my HOSTS file on my PC to the ip of the server and then the www.domain.co.uk: Eg: 192.168.1.250 www.testsiteonvirtualhost.co.uk This is what I do on my other apache test server (not CentOS). I assume this should work?? Is there anything other than virtual hosts that would need setting up?? Thanks in advance. Mark.

He he.. yes, my Windows background does steer me to GUI interfaces. Have you tried using system-config-httpd yet? VPN Server Recomendations

Hi Guys, I'm looking for a VPN solution that will run on CentOS. I've used PopTop with success but some clients have problems at hotels and other firewalled locations. If anyone can suggest something that works well with MS 2000/XP, doesn't require too much tweaking on the client side and is fairly resiliant to various firewall blocking, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Strange thing with Apache and PHP

Hi, I have this line (10) of code in PHP: include_once('../config.inc.php'); I'm 100% sure that the file config.inc.php is a directory up. config.inc.php is in /var/www/html and the file that calls it is in /var/www/html/classes nevertheless, i'm getting the error: "Warning: main(../config.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/classes/dBInsert.php on line 10 Warning: main(): Failed opening '../config.inc' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/html/classes/dBInsert.php on line 10" Permissions and ownership are ok. I even set: include_once('/var/www/html/config.inc.php'); and nothing :( I'm boggled! Any help would be appreciated. Best Regards, Deckard

I'm sorry, It's a typo. auth of sendmail?

hi, i have installed sendmail+mailscanner+clamav+spamassassin and work fine, but my telnet localhost 25 is not authenticates. i read a lot of docs but something i don't do it. i have installed centos 4.3 with: sendmail-8.13.1-3 sendmail-cf-8.13.1-3 dovecot-0.99.11-2 mailscanner-4.50.15-3.9 clamav-0.88.4-1.9 spamassassin-3.0.6-1 cyrus-sasl-2.1.19-5 cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.19-5 cyrus-sasl-md5-2.1.19-5 and i have enabled the next config: TRUST_AUTH_MECH(`EXTERNAL DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 LOGIN PLAIN')dnl define(`confAUTH_MECHANISMS', `EXTERNAL GSSAPI DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 LOGIN PLAIN') DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp, Name=MTA')dnl i try the next: /usr/lib/sasl2/Sendmail.conf pwcheck_method:shadow /etc/ld.so.conf /usr/lib/sasl2 i think than this is my problem, i don't know where i put this lines: # SASL2 (smtp authentication) APPENDDEF(`confENVDEF', `-DSASL=2') APPENDDEF(`conf_sendmail_LIBS', `-lsasl2') because, the file site.config.m4 that'snt exist in centos 4. i'm lost. any comments or light in the darkness is welcome, if just i block the access without login to telnet....i will so happy. thanks Roberto.-

LAMP benchmarking tool

Is anyone using a reliable Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP benchmarking suite? There are benchmark software for individual pieces but I hope there is one tool or several small tools that act together to give a picture of how long a request takes from entering Apache, to PHP, to MySQL and then back to the client.TIA!
